Team 221 robotics systems chassis

Has anyone every had an experience with any of the Team 221 chassis? If so, what was your experience? Was it good for the price? Was it durable, and strong enough to hold the rest of a robot? Was it maneuverable? Anything else you'd like to add?

Thanks!

Team 3098 has used Team 221 LLC chasis's the last 2 years. I can say both years we have had no issues with them. This year we played well over 100 matches and put it to the test every time. I do have to recommend getting the solid rock box. You do have to get creative with mounting things to it ect. But overall design for a chasis is great.

221 robotic systems chassis kits are amazing! Like Dane said above, we (3098) have been sponsored by 221 for the last 2 years, and let me tell you, I couldn't be happier with the simplicity and precise work that goes into each product that is made.

In 2010 we used the Universal Chassis (UC) kit and it was very nice, it was simple, fast, and maneuverable. We wanted to try something new and enclosed (chains, wheels, etc.) for Logo Motion so we tried out the Rock Box chassis. Anthony said it was the first time anyone used it for a competition robot. Let me tell you, that was one robust chassis. Like Dane said we had over 100 matches (111 to be exact) of real match play, plus practice. The only item we had to replace were the cams that were used for chain tensioning, which in reality was a 20-30 minute fix. Other than some new tread here and there, it was a great kit.

We really enjoy 221 sponsoring 3098 because it gives us a higher than your average chassis and allows our students to focus on mechanisms, and Anthony really puts quality design and functionality into all of his products.

And do you know if they'd be willing to sponsor another team? ;)

I just wanted to emphasize this. Anthony is a former mentor of mine so I'm not gonna pass up a chance to strongly agree with a compliment to him.

Sorry for butting in.

That's not butting in! That's helpful information! We may be using a 221 chassis this next year.

Thanks for your interest in our products. Unfortunately, at this time we do not have plans to increase our team sponsorships.

We are however proud to offer our products as Open Source in most cases. Anyone who has the capability to manufacture their own version of our products is encouraged to do so. When teams do this we simply ask that you give credit or reference to the source design. :)

If you have further questions or need more specific details about any of our products feel free to contact us.
