Re: CAGE Match 2011

Cage Match is a great competition for teams to send their rookie members and school administration. As Mike has mentioned in the past, even if you are not planning on attending or do not yet have a team, send some people to this event. This event shows the true meaning of FIRST and represents how much of an impact robotics and STEM is impacting high schools around the country.

I also want to give Mike props on having the auction proceeds benefiting the Art Anderson scholarship. I'll start saving my pennies to hopefully bid on something!

Re: CAGE Match 2011

We really work hard to make sure that CAGE is a fun laid back event for everyone. At the sametime, thanks to the efforts of the wonderful folks at AndyMark, we will have an official field and scoring system to make the experience as close to a regular regional as we can.

Our goal is to have an event that teams can use to grow and teach their new team members about FIRST and where new teams can see what this craziness we all love is all about.

We encourage teams to let as many students as possible operate their robots. It may be the only time that most students ever get to experience what it's like "behind the glass."

We would like to get the Arthur L. Anderson Scholarship off to a big start. If you have anything you would like to donate to the auction please contact Mike or myself and we will give you the details of where to send it.

I personally look forward to see as many of you as possible.

Bring a team shirt or other cool item as well. Let's have a silent auction selection that rivals IRI's!

2783 Might be attending, pending robot fixes and other things... (I personally am working on fixing the bot).

ratdude747 will be attending either way... I need a FIRST competition fix... bad. If my team doesn't go, Maybe some "old friends" will adopt me back for a day... :D

Re: CAGE Match 2011

Reminder: Today is the last day you can register and get the Early Registration discount ($25). Full price registration is available until the end of September.
Volunteers can also sign up through the Volunteer and Support page; we're still in need of scorers, referees, and field reset.
We're still accepting items for the Silent Auction - if you've got something cool that you'd like to donate to help out an FRC student in a good man's name, let us know!
Registration has been open for two weeks; there are as many teams registered now as we had attend last year!

Re: CAGE Match 2011

E-Mail Blast sent out to teams 10/5:

There are 24 teams registered for the 2011 CAGE Match. That means we’ll have eight full alliances in the elimination rounds. That’s awesome!

I’d like to remind you of a few things and let you know about the other attending teams.

1. Schedule: Doors open Saturday at 7a, we hope to be cleared out by 7p. The full schedule can be found on the website. Setup will be Friday afternoon, starting at 3p; if you’re in the Indianapolis area and would like to set up early (5p-ish), let me know. We’d like to have some robots on hand to test the field as well – just drop me a note.

2. Concessions: We will have a concession stand comparable to that of years past. We strive to present a good selection of choices at fair prices. We thank you for patronizing our concessions.

3. Volunteers: The key to any great event is a strong group of volunteers. This year we’re doing our volunteer signups through the website. Possible positions include Scoring, Field Reset, Refereeing, and Queuing.

4. Rules: We will be playing the IRI rules, with a serpentine draft. Stu Bloom is our illustrious head ref; he can answer any questions you may have.

5. Registration: Remember that part of the registration is items to be given to the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. One of the awards presented is based on the number of items each team brings.

6. Blood Drive: We will have a bloodmobile on site in the morning. Be ready to roll up your sleeve!

7. Scholarship: We are honored to offer the Art Anderson scholarship to current seniors. Please remind all team seniors to check out this opportunity.

8. Silent Auction: The scholarship is funded by the Silent Auction. We’re doing online donations; simply tell us what you intend to bring to the CAGE Match, and we’ll have the bidding papers ready. Please have all items registered by 10/10.

9. Carved Pumpkin Contest: Bring in a pre-carved pumpkin to compete against other teams. There will be a competition to find out which team brought the best pumpkin; voting is done via money wars. All proceeds from this will fund the scholarship.

Competing Teams:
45 Technokats
234 Cyber Blue
292 PantherTech
461 Westside Boiler Invasion
829 Digital Goats
1018 RoboDevils
