Hopefully we'll be bringing our new team to show them what competitions are like. Can't wait! Do you guys allow pre rookies with a borrowed robot to compete at a discounted price?

INFO BLAST #2
Duel on the Delaware

----------------

Friends of the Duel:

EVENT DETAILS
Duel on the Delaware 10
Saturday, October 22
Salem Community College - Davidow Hall / DuPont Field House
460 Hollywood Avenue
Carneys Point, NJ 08069

Hosted by 365 (MOE) and 316 (LuNaTeCs)

This is the second of a series of information blasts regarding the Duel on the Delaware event.

ACTIONS
(1) DUEL JOB FAIR
The Duel on the Delaware Job Fair consists of booths (8-15) with representatives from local companies who are hiring employees. The fair is a perfect opportunity for students and adults to talk with company representatives and learn what opportunities exist and how to apply. Feel free to advertise this (a flyer will be forthcoming) and tell those in the job hunt to bring their resumes. Companies like DuPont, Siemens, JC Penney, and Boeing are currently registered to attend.

If attending teams know of other companies who are hiring and who might like booth space to showcase their company and positions, please have them contact John Larock (john.a.larock@usa.dupont,com).

(2) DUEL MASTER VOLUNTEER
Duel Master Volunteer submissions are now open. Please consider nominating a deserving mentor or volunteer for this recognition. Nominations will only be open until the first week of October. Please have your submission in by that time. It is an opportunity to tell someone who has gone out of their way for your team how much you appreciate what he/she has done. The nomination form for this year is attached to this message.

All submissions will be posted at the event.

(3) SUCCESS WON'T WAIT BOOK DRIVE
Continue to build up that pile of books to donate to Success Won't Wait. The field is wide open to give to a great charity and rid the house of some books! In the past, we have donated as many as 7 tons of books at one Duel event. Let's see if we can beat that goal!

Teams donating the most books by weight will win a trophy and gift card prize. Please consider supporting literacy programs by donating books. It is a great way to focus your team on a project and to help the community at the same time.

The following types of books are not accepted - encyclopedias, magazines, textbooks.

For more information on where these books eventually end up, please check out the Success Won't Wait website.

Team 1676 might be able to webcast the event (we have webcast the NJ Regional in the past). We are currently asking our Info Tech team if it would be possible; I'll post again here as soon as I hear back.

Currently, we do not have a webcast planned. If 1676 is willing to webcast, let's discuss off-line to determine what needs to be done.

E-mail me at john.a.larock@usa.dupont.com.

Thanks!

yeah, unfortunately, I've moved and lost access to the webcast equipment I've used for parc, and brought down to Duel once. If I ever get my own equipment, I'll be sure to let you know, John. I do plan on coming down for the day though, need vollies anywhere?

I would have loved to come down and webcast again, but have no way to transport the equipment down. Hopefully in the future I will have a way to better transport the equipment.

Thanks for the note and for offering to volunteer. Currently, we have sufficient volunteers, but I am sure we can find somewhere for you to assist! See me when you arrive and I'll connect you with our Volunteer Coordianator.

See you Saturday!

Re: Official Information - Duel on the Delaware 10 - October 22, 2011

Please send any music requests to DuelDJ@gmail.com

Note:
  • I cannot download any music at the event (no wireless access)
  • I already have the usual suspects (Cha-Cha slide, Mr. Roboto, ect...)
  • My goal is for the music to be family appropriate, so the cut-off for requests is Friday night at 9pm so I have time to check song lyrics and content.

Hi everyone, as of right now 816 is in need of a 2011 Solenoid Breakout if anyone has a spare. Ours burnt out last week and we have been unable to find a spare and we're not sure if our replacement Breakout from AM will be here on time.

Hannah.

It doesn't look good. We are having a difficult time working out details with the school at the last minute.

Odds are not good, and we won't know for sure until tomorrow am.

Regards.

I always love the "random" awards given out at this event, such as the "Chug and Belch" award. Last year it was the "Ball magnet" and "Bullseye Sharpshooter" awards for hitting the game announcer in the face with a soccer ball.

MOE knows how to have a great time.

This was a fantastic event, as usual. Thanks to 316 and 365 for hosting a tremendous *TENTH* Duel on the Delaware!

Mr MOE 24-10-2011 08:35
