Recruiting Poster
We will have our first meeting soon, and we want to put up some posters encouraging kids to come out. Do you know of any good ones?

Re: Recruiting Poster
I would suggest having a team meeting and having students design posters. Include the basic info, but also about how FRC is cool, supported by Will.I.am, and it's not just limited to building a robot. let me know if you have any questions!

Re: Recruiting Poster
I've made my fair share of posters (i love photoshop!) i could send you some i've made, i think pictures of fun FIRST things are always cool, especially robots, and if you have pictures of people with like facepaint and their hair dyed, those are good on posters too! sure catches people's eyes!

Re: Recruiting Poster
Ok, so I've started making some myself, does anyone happen to have a picture with a team surrounding a FIRST logo?
EDIT: now that I think of it one of those shots under the big FIRST banner at the championship would be great. |
Re: Recruiting Poster
If it was up to me. I would lessen any group or team picture. I remembered when I was a kid. The first thing that would catch my attention are the fun and cool stuffs that makes it stand out. In this case, robots. I would put a picture with a kid building a robot. Another would be kid with a finished robot. But that's just me. Everyone clearly have different suggestions.

Re: Recruiting Poster
When the meeting? I would say that you should try to make kind of a collage. Include the words Coopertition & Gracious Professionalism, FIRST. Grab some of the images from the FIRST website (there are ones of Obama and Miss Daisy on the home page), include the FIRST logo (a big one) and lots of crowd shots. I know at least for the Florida Regional we got a lot crowd shots and FIRST seems to use crowd shots a lot. Click for images
You can also ask other FIRSTers for testimonies or something. I would say since the team is just starting out, to do regular paper (like the 8 1/2" by 11") to save money unless you are able to get some posters printed (maybe at Wal-Mart?) or pass out papers. If you need any help, you can ask me. Another idea is to just spread by word of mouth and maybe try to get on the morning announcements or a lunch announcement. Good luck! Can't wait to hear how it turns out! |
Re: Recruiting Poster
Thanks for your suggestion I ended up making some posters of my own, and getting us on the announcements. The meeting is tomorrow, we'll see how well it turns out

Re: Recruiting Poster
For future meetings...
The Associated Student Body students get points for each sign/banner they make for clubs or sporting events. See if such a organization on your campus would be willing to make large posters from small drawings free of charge. This will let your robotics kids focus on more important matters! |
