Re: Registration 2012

In the past, series of numbers were reserved for FLL teams outside the US and Canada. Does anyone know if that is still the case? For example, if all European teams had numbers in the 16000's or 17000's, that would align with the US/Can numbers noted in the projection.

Re: Registration 2012

Mark, from the graph, it looks like the total teams this year from each state is "Teams + Rookies" make "Teams" = Veteran Teams. However, based on Nebraska (and Iowa) "Teams" is just the total number of teams, right?

Sidenote: wow, nearly all those missing MN teams showed up just recently.

Yea, I did that wrong. Thanks for noticing :)
Teams is total in the chart just like the table, so I'll rework the chart to be vets/rookies/missing instead. It'll be updated in a second.

I changed the previous posted chart to have the same convention as the overall chart too. Missing teams are shown below the 0 line in red for each area.
I've attached here what I call the "Could Have Been" look that includes the missing teams on top so we see just how many teams each area could have if they just recover the missing teams.

While you are doing all this trouble could you also post the spreadsheet also. Thanks,

Re: Registration 2012

Bosnia has returned.
That makes 14 countries that are represented in FRC:
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • Dominican Republic
  • Germany
  • Herzegovina
  • Israel
  • Mexico
  • Spain
  • Taiwan
  • Turkey
  • United Kingdom
  • US
MAR is showing 93 teams (7 of them rookies) and has seen the reappearance of several missing NJ/PA teams and updated their District rosters.
18 MAR teams do not have 2nd Districts yet (19%).

FiM has 73 teams (of 169 total) still to choose/sort into a second District event (43%).

Topped 3000 total playing slots taken by 2226 teams.

Only 23 fewer new teams have registered than last year.

More resurrected veteran teams than any previous year.

7.8% gain now matches the gain of 2010.

Any correlation between 18 MAR teams who haven't signed up for 2nd Districts, but have signed up for events outside the MAR catchment area?

Only one of these (Team 204) has signed up outside (for Chesapeake).
Four are rookies.

Re: Registration 2012

Mark,

I'm not sure how hard it would be to tabulate the data on this but, it would be interesting to know for teams that are "missing", how many years they competed/existed before going "missing"

Side note: I'm proud to see that it looks like CT may not be growing fast, but is at least sustaining the majority of its teams

You mean like this?

Re: Registration 2012

Mark,

I apologize, I must have completely missed that post as I read through. Seeing it like that makes me wish FIRST would focus more on those teams who only last 1-3 years rather than constantly push for completely new teams.
