[OCCRA]: VEX robot - legal servos?

Similar to the question about 'non-VEX' materials for the OCCRA little VEX robot: Team 2 wants to know if it may be permitted to use servo units which are not VEX brand? Words within the body of the rules are not clear with respect to servos, although those rule words ARE explicit about motors (distinct from servos) brand and number.

The Inspection Sheet seems to say that servos MUST be ONLY those branded from VEX (without limit on their number). Is it correct that only VEX brand servos may be used on the little VEX robot (while other servo units are explicitly permitted for the Big Bot)?

Thanks,

Official Answer Mike Martus:

On the VEX robot you must only use VEX servos.

On the large Bot you may use other brands including VEX but please be prepared to show documentation that the servo has the rotational torque equal to the RS-232 that is the standard servo we supply in the kit. This servo is available many places including local hobby shops. OCCRA has a limited number of replacements available. Have your adult team leader contact Mr. McIntyre if you need a replacement.
