How do you prefer to learn about events/news from your local FIRST Region?

Trying to figure out where to focus our regional marketing & communication efforts? What works best for teams, teachers & mentors?

Which of the following do you have access to?
Which would you/do you use to get info on FIRST?
1-best 10-least likely to use

256 uses a few of your options, our most prominent being Team website, email (the best way), and twitter. Incase you haven't tried it yet, www.wiggio.com is also a great place for team communications!

Well, here would be the ratings from my view. I'm a student and a member of Team 2410, Metal Mustang Robotics (New name TBA)

Chief Delphi - 1
Facebook - 2
Website - 4
Twitter - 3
You tube subscription - 5
Google Plus - 10 (I don't have one - darn age limits)

The following I'm not sure where the source of them would be. Would the be like the Region has one contact per team, and it is thus that team members duty to forward all relevant information, or would it be like one massive system? If it is indeed one member's duty to pass on relevant information to the rest of the team, then I think I could deal with that. We currently have a system set up where you can text one number and the program will automatically send the message to anyone registered with the team through that program.

Text messages
Phone calls
Fax
USPS mail

I think that, unless it happens to fall under any of the ten already specified, that emails would also be a viable method of distributing information out.

I'm sure you're aware that there is a bias in this type of survey, as Chief Delphi users are answering. We have found that a lot of teams have no presence on Chief Delphi, so you will miss many teams if you rely on this as your main information source. It's hard to contact many teams particularly in the summer if their main contact is a teacher; many teachers don't read their school email regularly.

I would get a confirmed email that is active year round from each team.

During the summer months, our school does not even sort the mail on a regular basis. We now rent a PO box because of that.

While many of us keep an eye on places like Bill's Blog, Chief Delphi, and the First website, for our team e-mail is best for official communications. We have a couple of team e-mails set up specifically for communications between different groups, and they all automatically forward all e-mails to selected individuals. So if someone sends an e-mail to our team through our "official" address (2177@therobettes.com), it doesn't just sit in an inbox until our next meeting - it gets automatically forwarded to several people who can ensure it gets answered in a timely manor. This way any single individual going on vacation/ignoring their e-mails won't affect our ability to respond.

I love how usfirst.org doesn't even fall into the options. :D
Here's my chain of command on how I get info:

usfirst.org
GDC Q&A
email directly from FIRST
Chief Delphi
Bill's Blog
Twitter
Facebook

When communicating with my team, I send all out in email format, often with hyperlinks. I'd use Twitter more often, but not many of my followers are from my own team.

Least likely to use: Google+, Texting (we don't have a texting plan, so every one sent/received is 20 cents).
