Pneumatic Cylinder Sequence using LabVIEW

Hi,

I need to generate a cylinder sequencing operation using LabVIEW.

I use a 5/2 solenoid operated DCV working at 24V.

I need suggestions on how to activate this DCV from NI DAQ 6009.

Obviously the 6009 cannot source 24V, so you're not going to be able to operate the DCV directly with the 6009 - you're going to have to build a small control circuit that interfaces the 6009 to a 24v source and the DCV. The 6009 also cannot source enough current to directly trigger most magnetic relays (and by that I mean it wouldn't source enough for all the relays I could find at the local Radio Shack). I generally end up having to create a small transistor switch that drives a relay to control devices like that. If you connect the USB-6009 digital output to the base input of the transistor switch, you can control the relay and thus control the solenoid.

You can get a good explanation of transistor circuits here: http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/trancirc.htm
