Water game

Of course it's going to be a water game look at all the factors: On the hint the first part number was 1492, like columbus that has to do with water if you didnt know!!::rtm::

R2D2DOC 05-12-2011 13:31

Re: Water game

That sounds plausible:

(1) 1492, Columbus sailed with his alliance of three ships
(2) 1585, Sir Walter Raleigh sailed to the new world in search of new settlements and other things (gold)
(3) 1606, the Dutch discover Australia
(4) 1732, George Washington was born, revolutionary !! (bit of a reach)
(5) 1738, Daniel Bernoulli published his famous treatise HYDRODYNAMICA, also, the bottle opener is invented (a real reach . . .)

There are also the four digit numbers of 2711 and 9324, which I leave to the next generations(s).

TofuRama 05-12-2011 19:18

Re: Water game

I agree that there's a lot of water dealing with those numbers and it would be cool to have a water game. However, we are dealing with FIRST and a water game seems unlikely.

One thing that I have noticed with those numbers is a lot of numbers mentioned by R2D2DOC deal with exploration, discovery, or invention. Of course, 1732 is an odd number as the only thing that I could find was President Washington's birthday. Maybe it deals with a revolution of ideas?

Ninja_Bait 05-12-2011 19:49

Re: Water game

Can I just /facepalm this thread? No, maybe that's a little mean.

You forgot the big 100th anniversary of the Titanic! I agree with TofuRama, though, that there is more evidence of an exploration-themed or rather unnavigable field than of a field with water.

And honestly, who could tolerate a game where the field wouldn't stop leaking? Because this is FIRST, and a lot of professional design work and manufacturing care always gets turned into a duct-tape mess by volunteers and high schoolers.

I enjoy the water game speculation as much as the next guy (or maybe poster), but it's obviously impractical and absurd.

To Admins/Moderaters/Brandon Martus-

Maybe I'm complaining too much, but can we please make a specific subforum purely for water game talk? Sure, the water game talk was humorous when andy baker or dave lavery cracked a joke about it years ago, but now, it's quite frankly annoying, old, and filling Chief Delphi with unnecessary, unhelpful threads. CD is supposed to be about helping people, right?

If anything, could someone please move this thread from CD Forum Support to Chit-Chat?

Just my thoughts/suggestions.

Nope, that's not it at all.

Give it up, it ALREADY happened. Don't believe me?

Rug Rage. (Wasn't the entire field, granted. But still...)

2009 had damp carpets at some events.
There was a watery demo in 1999 without a single failure.
I believe that one of the Florida offseasons had at least one year with a rather soaked field.

NURC, run by FRC0842.

Actually, my first response to this thread (which I didn't post) was something to the effect of "N00B. Not worth the effort to respond at this time, especially with the placement." My second response was something to the effect of "obvious troll is obvious". My third response is seen above.

My current response, you ask? Y'all are officially certified as crazy, and sent outside to go play in the snow (or whatever ground covering you may currently happen to have in your area) until 1/7/12. Yes, you may come in to eat and sleep.

Maybe I'm hallucinating here, but wasn't there also a game wayyyyy back when (maybe rug rage) where the balls were filled with water? (Or, is that what you were referencing to when you said "Rug Rage. (Wasn't the entire field, granted. But still...)"

Squirrel, would you mind posting a link to the blog about the build of that thing? I remember reading it but I seem to have lost the link.

Mods, consider this a second call to get this moved to Rumor Mill.

- water game!!!!

Note that this is being said while I am sitting in a half-full bathtub in one of the salon cabins aboard a friends Oyster 825 sailboat that is currently traversing the Panama Canal. Arrayed around me are 116 one-litre bottles of Evian, all on display beneath a huge portrait-size poster of Niagara Falls. And I am wearing water wings.

I'm totally joking but this must mean that there will be 116 floating game pieces on a half full field that is shaped like New York (right under Niagara Falls). Robots must fit through a small gap or fly (panama canal and water wings).

Ridiculous enough?

You come back with 1 post. ONE POST. And get everyone excited about everything. People are making speculations, every word you say is likely to be a hint of something. We are now putting down our homework to research what you mean by anything you say.

You ARE the robotics god! :ahh: You have the power everyone wishes they had!

The only problem is, in the event of something bad, you will never be taken seriously.

Eg.

Dave: "I'm choking!"
CD person 1: "Is that a hint?!"
CD person 2: "The word king is in choking! Maybe it's a king of the hill game!"
Dave: "Help!"
CD person 1: "Our goal in the game must be to help people!"
CD person 2: "Let's go create a thread on this and see the crazy unlikely things people come up with!"

The two leave, and just because I like Dave, I'll end the story by saying he stopped choking and walked away.

And that was a lot longer than what I thought it would be. Oh well, too late now ! :D

Four posts must equal four robots! 2 robots on each alliance in the 2012 game would mean that there is a smaller playing field and smaller pieces (tennis balls?). This post tells us so much.

Over analyzation complete.

Look, I'm from New York City. If you're south of the Staten Island Ferry, you're as good as tropical. If you're north of it, you're in upstate (even if you're in the Canadian part of upstate), the land of ice and snow. We also believe there is a suburb of the city known as New Jersey, which is in our climate zone.

Our sense of geography has been honed by years of excellent training.
