Spectrum FRC#3847 will be able to do Dallas West and Lone Star Regionals. We would have a photo database any way and it won't be that different to meet the requirements for your site.

I love FRC Designs, keep up the good work.

Re: [FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012

Last season @ FLR 2056 assigned a pair of kids to stand at the front of the queing area and take pictures of robots going to the field. They wanted pictures of robots as they would look during competition and as long as they stayed out of the way of the traffic flow I didn't mind them. This would actually probably be the best way to get pictures of robots during the season.

I've talked to our Media sub-division, and we (1676) will be able to photograph Rutgers, NYC, and Mt. Olive. If we qualify, we could also potentially do the MAR Championships. :D

Re: [FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012

Suggestion on naming of the pictures:

Team 1
0001.jpg

Team 33
0033.jpg

Team 469
0469.jpg

Team 2337
2337.jpg

This would allow for the pictures to be in one folder and listed in numerical order. They you can add alpha characters at the end to show multiple versions.

Just my $0.001

What happens when a robot is at multiple competitions and there are multiple pictures taken and sent to you, the file names would be the same if the person who sends it in doesn't know that their is already a picture of it. My suggestion is to give a list to the people assigned to taking the pictures that shows what teams they need to photograph at that competition.

Due to the fact that robots are constantly changing, it may be better to have a picture of every robot at every regional (even if its redundant in some cases). Perhaps have us save the pictures in a folder with the title of the event on it?
From there, you can use a program to change the name of all the images in the folder based on how you decide to sort them.

For instance:

Regional B takes place on week 2, Regional A takes place on week 1.
team 0001 is attending both regionals.
You get 0001.jpg in regional A's folder and add a "w1" to the end of it.
Then you take that 0001.jpg in regional B's folder and add a "w2" to the end of it.
At the end, simply combine all of the folders and have yourself one happy family.

*Where "you" is the program.

This is perfectly fine. We don't really care where you photograph them just so long as the requirements are met. (diagional, clear, showing a bumper number, etc.) If you think that you can best take the photos in the queing line then by all means please do so. :]

This is pretty much what we are already doing. The extra zeros don't effect the picture order so I thought that it would be easier to exclude them. I quoted the origional post for you below.

(ex: 33.jpg) If you are sending multiple photos of the same robot, label pictures after the first with lowercase letters starting with "b". (ex: 33b.jpg ; 33c.jpg etc) This allows me to organize all the files easily instead of personally going through over 1000 files organizing, renaming, and changing the file extension so they all match. Follow the FRC Design submission page to contact the website (http://www.frc-designs.com/html/Submit_Design.html).

Then multiple photos with the same name will be sent in. It's not a very big deal and allows us to take the best photo of said team's robot for the website. Under the current system, if you label your files properly before you send them then pictures of the same robot will be next to each other in the recieving file holding all of the pictures. So yes, we still want you to photograph all the robots at an event even if they have competed previously.

I have faith that you will qualify so I took the liberty of adding you for the MAR Championship as well

Adam,

You are so right that many teams do this already. FRC Designs is attempting to consolidate all of this information into one place. Thanks for committing!
