Who is team ####?

I created this thread because i feel like there are so many wonderful teams out there that i know nothing about!
So, in an effort to get to know more FRC teams, i think it's a good idea if everyone posts a little about their team!

Post as little/as much as you want, anything would be great. A team picture would be great!

I am a part of team 1559, Devil Tech. We come out of Victor NY, and compete every year in the Finger Lakes Regional, and an additional "travel" regional. We typically stand at around 45 students, 20 mentors (this year being no exception).

FRC 3929 The Atomic Dragons

We are the students of J.R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School!

We are a new rookie team that was formed during the fall of 2011! Of course, we are hoping to make it far into the FIRST Robotics Competition, and build a robot along the way that can help us in this goal. More importantly, we're a group of students who are looking to strengthen our relationships with club members, and work together to build a robot, raise funds, and have fun!

Re: Who is team ####?

The members of FIRST Robotics Team 1583 are different than members of other teams. Coming from all over the state of Colorado, they made poor choices, engaged in delinquent behavior, broke the law and were arrested. Seeing the potential in these youth to change their behavior, the courts in Colorado committed these youth to Ridge View Academy. A Colorado Department of Youth Corrections program operated by Rite of Passage, Ridge View Academy is a highly structured and closely supervised residency program located in Watkins, Colorado.

When these young men became students at Ridge View they were challenged to do many things they would have not thought possible before. One of these things is FIRST robotics.

Ridge View began its association with FIRST robotics in 2004 when Roger Allott, a prosecutor who believed in justice and helping troubled youth, saw in FIRST a program that could help his cause. He saw that FIRST programs build not only science and technology skills and interest but also foster well rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership.

Since its rookie year in 2005, members of team 1583 have lived up to Roger’s expectations and then some. Engineering mentor Chuck Brant won the regional Woodie Flowers award in 2006. The team was a member of the Colorado regional winning alliance in 2007. In 2010 the team won the regional Chairman’s award and the Judges award at the FIRST Championship in Atlanta.

TEAM 694!

We're Stuypulse. We're a NYC team, and a frequent contender at both the NYC and Hartford regionals (We've been to Champs 8 times in 11 years). We're one of the largest clubs at our school and one of the largest teams in New York City, with a diverse student body and the blessing of many skilled mentors, including one regional Woodie Flowers Award winner. We spread the love with a lot of mentoring and demoing, and showing off a little Stuypulse magic every once in a while. ;)

2212!!!
We're The Spikes, from Lod, Israel.
We compete in the Israeli regional since 2007, and won many prizes, at least one every year (in 2011 we recieved two-the Website Award and the Gracious Professionalism Award), and we allways reach the quarter finals (except 2010). We're a small team, in the ballpark of 20 students. We have brilliant students, and many times come up with great designs, but we usually have a hard time building them, because of lack of materials and money. We have great new sponsors this year, so we'll se you in St. Louis!

Stuy like pig sty. Pulse like... pulse...

But please do not, I repeat, DO NOT say Stooie-pulse. That is dead wrong and everyone says it that way. Our name comes from the name of Peter Stuyvesant, the Dutch leader of New Amsterdam before it was New York, so it is pronounced in Dutch and not English. Thank you.

Team 1124: The ÜberBots

We're going into our 10th season as a FRC team. We're from Avon CT and are consistently competitive in the CT Regional, having won in 2010, 2008, 2007, and 2006. Team membership ranges between 15 and 40 members (we're around 25 this year). We'll be at the CT Regional this year, and St. Louis (if we can find the money).

Team 1676: The Pascack Pi-oneers

Hello all! We are an 8-year-old team located in Northeastern NJ, originally founded in the 2005 season. Currently, we have 90 students on the team, who go to two schools that comprise the Pascack Valley Regional High School District. There are also about 15 mentors, 4 of whom teach in the district. We won Rookie All-Star in NJ in 2005, and have won Chairman's twice (2008 in NJ and 2009 in Palmetto). Additionally, we have won both the NJ and Virginia regionals in for the past two years. This year, as well as competing at the NYC regional, will be competing at the Mt. Olive and Rutgers MAR District events, and the MAR Championship and Champs in St. Louis if we qualify. You can find out more about us at our website, www.team1676.com.

(I'm not sure if it's working, but there should be an image inserted above)

We wish everyone a Happy New Year, and good luck for the 2012 season!

Re: Who is team ####?

I am a mentor and alumni of Team Stealth (#1802) based in Kansas City, KS out of Piper High School. Normally we have right about 20 students but we (happily) expanded to 40 students for this season. Currently 12 of these are female which is 3 times more than we normally have. Our rookie year was in 2006 to help out a student who could not take AP Physics(not enough people interested in the class).

We've had our fair share of issues as a team but come out better and better every year. We have had 4 coaches, mentor changes (due to personal issues with other mentors) and 5 home changes in our almost 6 years. As a mentor, I am feeling very confident in our team this year and we hope to be able to take then entire team to STL this year. Last year we just took a student because we were in the running for the website award.

We have won 13 different awards throughout the years, but never a Chairman's Award, so look out St. Louis, we are still reaching for the brass ring!

Re: Who is team ####?

We're team 639, (the first) Code Red Robotics from Ithaca NY. We've been around since 2001, and have won regionals in 2004 and 2005. Since then, we have reliably gotten into the semifinals at atleast one regional, and our showing has been improving as well. Our team has grown astronomically in the last two years--from 35 to 60. Though this presents many hurdles, our team has kept our base philosophy that the robot should be led, designed, built, and tested by students with the mentors acting as a very valuable safety net. To this, major decisions remain a popular democratic vote, and the club is run fully by student officers. We're pretty well known for being 'those guys with the tank', which is an image we are trying to change. In the past years, we've used tank tread and way too much T-slot to make a robot that is unbreakable, but quite slow and heavy.

Here's one of the more recent pictures of our team at FLR 2010. We're returning there this year, as we always do, and taking a trip to Washington DC for our second regional!

We are team 88 (TJ^2), We have been in FIRST since 1996. We are based out of Bridgewater-Raynham regional Highschool in Massachusetts. Currently we have around 60 students on our team and travel with the top 40 students ranked on the team. Ranking is decided from fundraising and hours spent working on team related things. Each year our team travels to the boston competition and one other, this year we chose the Chesapeake regional.

We are Team 399, Eagle Robotics from Lancaster, California. Based out of Lancaster High School(drawing students from Eastside and Quartz Hill high schools this year, and in previous years adopting the members of now defunct FRC1110 of Highland HS).

Over the years, we've spawned three FRC teams(585, 1110, 2339), one FTC team(FVC 399, now FTC72), and countless FLL teams. As part of our outreach, we mentor, assist, and connect with these teams and more.

We are the first FIRST team in the Antelope Valley, going into our 13th year of competition. Typically, we are attendants of either the San Diego or Los Angeles regionals, and some regional out of state. This will be our second year of attending three regionals: San Diego, Utah, and Colorado.
For all of our years of being a team, we've qualified for the Championship event.

Our major achievements include, but aren't limited to:
-Regional Chairman's award @ LA 2007
-Regional Chairman's award @ LA 2008
-Regional Champions @ Colorado 2009
-Division Finalists @ Curie 2009
-IRI Champions 2010
-Regional Champions @ Utah 2011

Our team is willing to assist any team in need at any competitions we attend. Our pit crew would love to help teams in any way possible. Just look for us in our orange jerseys :)

Our rookie year was 2009. We're the only FRC team in Cache Valley and span multiple schools with our base of operations at InTech Collegiate High. A few letters from us after our rookie year in Las Vegas got support from the state legislature for the Utah Regional, and it was held the next year. We've gotten a little better every year, from not making eliminations, to quarterfinals, to finals, and hope to make it to Championships this year. Good luck everyone.

Hello there, this is Sumathi from team 2410 CAPS Metal Mustang Robotics, commonly recognized on web casts as "that one team with silver cowboy hats". For those of you familiar with us you may be wondering why our name is slightly changed this year. Last season our team became a district team which meets at the Center of Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS). In the past we have won the rookie all star award, and awards at the Oklahoma and Greater Kansas City Regionals.

This year we attended the Greater Kansas City regional and will be attending the Oklahoma Regional. As of now I believe we have around 45 students and about 10 mentors that works with us.

We're team 1071, MAX, located out of Wolcott, Connecticut, and 2012 is the milestone of our 10th season. We serve the students of Wolcott High School, as well as a few Wolcott Students who attend other area schools.

Our team on average has about 30 students a year, and 7-10 fantastic mentors. We are a frequenter of the Connecticut Regional in Hartford, as well as throughout the Northeast Invitational circuit.

One thing to mention about our teams that's special is that we host the Where is Wolcott? Invitational. This yearly off-season event held in June takes a laid-back approach to FRC, with the day mainly about just getting a great chance to use your robots in actual matches, and to party with your FIRST friends.

FRC team 1023 Bedford Express out of Temperance MI! Our team this year is around 40 students, half the team consisting of freshmen! We are attending the Detroit District this season, and we are hosting our own district in Bedford for the first time! We placed 3rd in Michigan last year, and 14th in the world. We are definitely excited for this year's competitions, and plan on making into States, and eventually Worlds! Our robot this year is named Ms. Spocke, each letter representing an important mentor to our team. On behalf of Bedford Express, I hope to see you all at the competitions!

Speaking of Bedford (good transition :p), I'm one of the mentors for team 964 out of Bedford, OH, whose rookie year was 2003.

We had to take a hiatus due to a lack of funding, but thanks to some awesome people (including the principle!), we will be starting back up in time for the 2014 season. We attend the wonderful Buckeye Regional in Cleveland, usually placing as close to last as humanly possible. That doesn't stop us from having fun, and maybe even learning something.

We've generally held around 10-20 students each year, even though the high school has over 700 students. Marketing and public awareness is something that we're working on. In 2008 we had a short news piece on a Saturday between the Olympics which definitely got a good amount of local attention.

We attend the Wisconsin Regional every year (Midwest before the Wisconsin Regional was created), and for the first time in the team's history, this year we will attend a second regional (the Buckeye Regional).

In recent years, our team has done well in competition. We have attended championships 2 times in the past 3 years. This year is shaping up to be our best season yet!

We are also increasing our outreach. My personal favorite event we attended was the pack-expo in Chicago. We were featured in first snapshots! Link

Team 2383 the Ninjineers

Located in Plantation, Florida, we are seven years old and have really grown in the past few years. In 2011, we won our first FRC award ever at the Orlando Regional- the Spirit Award! Although not revered by some, we love to be spirited (and everyone else loves it too!) and have won every Spirit Award since then.

In 2012 (Rebound Rumble) we made the elimination rounds for the first time ever at an official FRC event at the Orlando Regional. Then we made it again in the South Florida Regional.

This year about 60 kids and 7 mentors are going on the trip with us to Orlando next week. We will also attend South Florida later in March, and hopefully Nationals in April!

We started off participating in BEST robotics ten years ago and joined up with North Atlanta High School to form team 3694 in 2011. This year we have branched off to form our own rookie team. We have been close with many Atlanta teams over the years so thought this season we have gotten lots of help from seasoned professionals in particular the Grady Gearbox Gangsters. This season we have built a robot that is very small (2 feet tall and 60 lbs) that can through frisbees full court. Like our parent organization, TerrorBots accepts members from all over North Central Mass, with our highest density of members living in Leominster and Fitchburg.

Currently we have roughly 10 students and 7 mentors. We may have a small team but you can guarantee that we have the spirit of a much larger team. See you at the WPI Regional!

Re: Who is team ####?

I am from Team 2068, The Metal Jackets from Manassas, VA. We started in 2007 and performed quite well - making it to the elimination matches in our division at championships. Unfortunately this was the only year we've attended championships and though we are consistently in the elims at our regionals, we are starting to push ourselves more - this year we have gotten several new sponsors including a machine shop and have begun to revitalize our business side which was previously almost nonexistent - and are hoping to attend championships again this year for the second time in our team's 6-year history.
