Nah, he was totally right, 2168's going to improve quite a lot in 2012.

They improved a lot last year... but they'll have to do at least that much improving to beat 1071. My listmaking device says 33.67 points for 1071 to 2168's 17.58 points is a decent estimate.

So... what your saying is that Akash should have listened to you because by your metrics 1071 is the superior team? I know Akash and he makes decisions based on any available information. Perhaps he is operating on a different set of metrics. Let it play out man. See which set of metrics is more useful in this particular case.

There's a difference between past performance and possible future stats. I place a lot on proven past performance as a predictor of the future (noting that everyone has a stellar or atrocious year here and there). Sometimes I'll go for a future performance, either because it's a reasonable choice or because I want to try a reasonable gamble that I have other information on.

By my metrics, yes, 1071 is a superior team--because they are consistently performing at a particular level, at this particular event. By someone else's metrics, the 2168 is better--but in my mind, they have not shown anything like the potential I'd need to put them ahead--yet. One good/bad year does not a team's career make. If Akash and his team think that they'll improve enough over last year (or the previous years, which didn't stack up to last year) to make it a worthwhile pick, that's their choice.

Then why berate his choice with snide remarks?

Oh, and Akash: Next time listen to your opponents' comments on a trade like that. Maybe they know something.

I was thinking that someone else had thought that that was a bad trade. It looks like I thought wrongly.

Now, along a similar line: Why does someone not involved with FF at all choose to comment on FF players' comments?

Guys, chill.

2168 is a better pick anyway :p

Eric - I have my sources. (3 teams in EWCP attend the CT regional)

I read more threads than I post in. Sometimes I have something to say, others I don't. This was one of the times I had something to say. Didn't think this was a crime.

I'm butting out now though.
