So what's it gonna be?

Coach on team #131, chaos, from central high school manchester and osram-sylvania. Posted on 7/29/99 8:12 PM MST Floppies (not), balls (maybe), Dean hinted at a much more easily scored game (great!). I predict each team will have a vertical 'goal', balls will be placed in the goals. The height of the stacked balls will indicate the winner. Kind of like a basketball game but with a tube which fills up with balls instead of a hoop. Any other ideas? Tom W. |
I don't know, but I hope there's a puck!

There will probably also be a sort of common goal that the teams will have to fight for. The 'King of the Hill' aspect of the games make it so much more intense and exciting. Not to mention, it increases the importance of building a tough robot. Who knows, but there's my 2 cents. |
Footballs..

Other on team #?, Actually, I'm a FIRST-aholic, from an undecided team for the year 2000 and I'm taking invitations :-). Posted on 7/30/99 1:28 PM MST In Reply to: So what's it gonna be? posted by Tom Wible on 7/29/99 8:12 PM MST: My take on what should happen for the 2000 games: -There should be a center goal for all to promote some interaction (not like '98 or the earlier years) Much like Ramp 'n Roll and this year. -There should be scoring pieces that can be made to a definite size (tubes didn't have too much variance, tennis balls..) -There should be multiple scoring objects..maybe.. like tubes and footballs (the football suggestion is for Andy Grady cause I know he'd make it but can't get on to post)..water-filled balls and cubes.. something new and different.. -There should be allowable interaction but no robot wars.. you have to score to win, plain and simple.. sometimes you may get beaten by scoring, but everyone's got to make an effort too.. -I don't know if they should, but I'm sure alliances will return again- we had 7 years to learn the pros and cons of playing alone, we've got to give it more than one year to test out this together thing.. But whatever it is.. I know it will be the best one yet- see you all there!! |
