Before you post an answer to someones question

Go here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=42238

I have already seen answers to question that begin with "I think so" or "it looks like..."

Please, if you don't know the answer, DON'T say anything. It muddies the waters.

If you know the answer, and it pertains to a FIRST rule, please include the rule in your answer.

I hope I haven't offended anyone. If I did, I apologize.

Quoting a rule by copy and paste eliminates all doubt.

A wrong answer is FAR WORSE than no answer.

Please, please, if you don't KNOW for certain, don't offer a guess.

Don't guess, but do give interpretations based on your understanding of a rule. Don't say, "I don't think you can touch the hoops with your robot." Instead, explain why the manual (or field diagrams) say how you would not be able to touch the hoops.

I'm hoping people don't mind, but I'm "Bumping" this thread because all the people that have never made threads or been on CD before need to read this.

With that being said,

Bump.

Bump away. I hate it when the answer gets hazy in a thread full of "I think"s.

Worse than "I think" is "I know I saw it somewhere but I'm too lazy to look right now."
If you're that lazy, don't put forth a half-hearted answer in the first place!

And don't even think of putting that sort of question out there...

If I leave "go look it up" as an answer, I'll almost always give a reference to assist in looking through the Manual.

actually i disagree even though it hurts the other team. this forum is to help thos rookie teams or semi rookie teams. so posting your errors will help them not do that.

The problem comes when the rookie team takes that wrong answer and runs with it. Then they get to competition with an illegal robot and have a huge hassle trying to pass inspection. It's better to not answer and allow someone else to steer them in the right direction!
