v8 engine allowed?

Is a V8 engine allowed?

Does it shoot bowling balls?

I don't care if it's legal or not, I want one!

Re: v8 engine allowed?

You should read the rules before you ask rules questions.

It clearly says that you can't use COTS parts that are worth more than 400 dollars, such as a forklift or engine.

;)

Is this just a random picture, or did you actually meet (and, I hope, try out) a giant pitching machine?

I really want to see a video of that beast running.....

As long as you get the guy from the junk yard to write "V8 Seat motor" on the receipt, I believe it's legal ;)

I can't tell from the angle but I think this may violate the weight limit. ::rtm::

I use to be an engineer like you. Until I took a bowling ball to the knee.

Re: v8 engine allowed?

that really depends on what your trying to do, oblitarate the competition (and the playing field) or get a good laugh

Re: v8 engine allowed?

Never saw it, searched Google for pitching machine. This came up, thought it was fitting. It almost looks like it shoots 8' 2x4's or 4x4's with the plexiglass frame behind it.

EDIT: You could possibly build this with items less than 400 bucks. Just look at 24 hrs of lemons racing. :-)

Back to the drawing board.

Just wanted to say, I cracked up so much when I saw that picture...sadly I think it violates some important rules, such as each part being no more than $400, the robot can't weigh more than 120 lbs, you aren't allowed to destroy the arena, and you can't destroy the "competition", but otherwise, I say its perfectly legal!

Guys,
Did you not read...

The only legal source of electrical energy for the Robot during the competition is one MK ES17-12 12VDC non-spillable lead acid battery, or one EnerSys NP 18-12 battery, as provided in the 2012 KOP. This is the only battery allowed on the Robot.

I think it is fully established that this is a "joke" thread with the first picture.
