Skyway Bead-LOK Wheels
 

Ok, so we are looking into the skyway bead-lok wheels, and we had a few questions.
We plan on getting the 10" wheels (to help get over the bump) with our 6 wheeled drive. The big problem is that we don't fully under stand how to mount them. Going by this page, we are going to need the keyway hub. But by the looks of it, the hub goes INTO the wheel rather than out so that we can put in a set screw to hold it together. So our question is, how do we get it on the shaft and KEEP it there?

With the keyway hub you can just use a keyed shaft. And then maybe some shaft collars or eclips to hold it in place.

My question is how do you attach a sprocket to them, like the KOP wheels.

FIRST had adapters for the six inch wheels. You will likely need to manufacture your own out of polycabonate or aluminum. Bore out this plate to fit onto the hub of the wheel, make sure it is thick enough to provide chain clearance to the side of the wheel. You will also need to index slots to match the spoke thickness, so add thickness for as much contact as possible. Index 3 to 6 holes through the plate (you need two of these plates per wheel) and tap holes (8-32 or 10-32) indexed the same in your drive sprocket. Then use nylok nuts as jamb nuts to lock the wheel assembly together at the sprocket side. If you are planning to use the keyway/live axle configuration in between bearing blocks, make spacers to hold everything in place. if you use a dead axle config, bore out the sprocket to accept the wheel bearing on that side for a larger "wheelbase". Andymark sells a couple different sized sprockets that have a 1/2 inch bore and an appropriately sized keyway. It's been a long time since I've used beadlok wheels, so I'm not sure of the bore size. Mcmaster Carr sells sprockets with finished bores (with keyways and setscrews), that you can purchase as well. Finally, Andymark sells a couple sizes of keyed hubs that have a bolt pattern that matches up to kit wheels (and many other FIRST components).
