Re: BRONY THREAD

While we're on the subject of making the most out of our FIRST experience, I must once again petition this thread for help regarding my "no team" listing. As of last year, I posted a request to see if anyone needed my help because my team had not been the greatest, and I was amazed by how awesome the responses here were. I come again asking for something a little more. My school's only team has decided to ban me from joining this year because I'm "a useless sack of s**t." (I haven't been able to get any more specific than that, but I really want to think that it isn't true, especially considering I had to be physically barred from the shop last year because I was working and refused to leave). Point is, I'm going to be a senior next year, and I really, really, really want ONE enjoyable year out of FIRST, which has so far not happened. (I was thrown out of a moving subway, for starters). I therefore ask you to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, see if there is any way I could actively help out your team programming-wise next year. It would mean the world to me. I'm familiar with LabView, Java, C++, Objective-C, Ruby, and Python, I can do basic electronics work, I've coded robot autopilots in C++ and Java since I was 8, and if there's a programming task I'm not suited for, I'll teach myself over the summer. I'll be happy to provide any and all necessary references.

Please. I'm counting on you guys for a halfway decent senior year with FIRST, and I figures bronies would be the nicest people to ask.

TL;DR Tossed off team, need a new team to work for, please help.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I can kinda relate because even though I'm pretty smart compared to some of my teammates I'm nothing, and I'm a bit of an outcast. (I don't socialize much, I'm shy) Because of this I feel left out and unguided 90% of the time. Anyways, I was one of three programmers with any experience still on the team this year, the other programmers we had to teach, and being our first year using lab view it was a bit rough. If we need help this coming year I'd be glad to welcome you as support to our programming division.

Guys and girls (sometimes called Pegasisters) typically aged 16-23 (on average) who are fans of the recent reboot of Hasbro's "My Little Pony" franchise, or more specifically the current cartoon show based on the franchise, titled My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show was created by Lauren Faust and the staff is full of all kinds of 90s and early 2000's cartoon and tv writers and such that give the show it's appealing stories and characters. Considering the widespread mention of the fanbase I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. :D

Thank you so much! I've felt kind of cheated of my FIRST experience, so it's good to know I'll finally get a good one! Once again, thanks! This really means a lot! (If this thing does work out, there might be some new plushies coming down the Hasbro pipeline. I can try and snag you one of those.)

What good timing too!

Because of our (horrible) experiences with labview, we decided to move to Java next year (I voted for C++, but Java will be easier to learn for all the newbies.) The problem is, I only know C++ and Python. I don't know java really well. Or how to program the robot in it for that matter. On top of that, I'm going to be the lead programmer next year. Of course, if you could help, that would be really, REALLY, appreciated. And maybe we could even get you on our team somehow.

Everytime I see EQG, I want to throw up. The character style is horrible, and the characters are going to VERY OOC.

Not to mention the plot is going to be something out of a typical fanfic like this:

Spoiler for Prediction:
1. Twilight becomes human
2. Twilight meets human forms of her friends
3. Twilight finds out in order to get back home, she must get some artifact
4. Twilight falls in love
5. Twilight must choose between love and home
6. Some antagonist makes things more complicated
(PLOT TWIST: antagonist is also equestrian)
7. Twilight wins
8. Twilight revels her true form
9. Twilight goes home, probably with a "parting sorrow" scene w/ love

I might need help next season with labview programming. The problem with my team is that most programmers have experience however its more with text-based languages, only two of us stepped up to learn labview (we considered switching to Java however the coach disagreed). I was made head programmer pretty much midseason this year and I managed, however it would be nice if others helped considering the workload (planning much more for next season). I'm letting the guys with text-based skill work on projects such as our site and scouting system. I might need help with labview robot programming this upcoming season so I'll keep you posted :) .

Yes, the 2 of us that programmed the bot this year were Bronies :D (a Brony and Pegasister to be specific).

Thank you guys all so much! I would have never expected so many awesome people would come to help! (Which is good, because the situation with my old team is getting REALLY bad, but that's another story.) In any event, if you want to contact me, you could Skype me at alxg833, or email me at goulda@bxscience.edu (I check it more often than my Skype.) Again, thank you guys so much! This is awesome!

(I mean seriously, I recently had a HORRIBLE experience with FIRST, and I didn't even know that was possible! I'm not sure if I can express my thanks in words, so have the whole dictionary.)

Do you think you could large images in [spoiler] tags? It really helps us with slower computers out.

Also, I'll add you on skype, we can begin discussing things there if you want. :) My skype name is ILikePizza555.

I also added both people who contacted me on Skype. (Sorry about the wait! My Skype is a little buggy.)
