Is this in practice mode or competition mode?

That's for you to decide... ;)

Did you create a bot in the software that is similar to your real bot or was it really different. I'm intrigued :)

I haven't really run the Catalyst software because it's really sluggish on my laptop (the same one that does very large CAD assemblies...weird...). But I do have 2 questions:

1.) Does the simulation have a 3rd-person stationary view, where the driver cannot move with the robot (i.e. the view is always from the driver's station)?
2.) Was this high score completed via that stationary 3rd-person view or was it completed with a view that followed the robot?

This is strange. My best guess would be that the CAD programs are fairly efficient at doing their large computations at a bare minimum, but we are having to do a lot of physics calculations between every frame. I suppose it could be because our environment is more complicated to render than your CAD part. It is hard to tell.

The view is always from above the driver's station facing the field. (I think at worst it is angled down about 35 degrees) Depending on where you and your alliance partners are at any point of the match, the camera will move forward and backward to give you a better view when you are shooting in your baskets and when you are balancing on the bridges.

Catalyst doesn't have a camera view where the camera follows behind a robot.
