Re: Can we fill our wheels with water?

Try tungsten hexafluoride. It's 11 times denser than air. Though please don't use it with water together. It'll release hydrofluoric acid which is bad.

Oh, and it's toxic and corrosive. That might...

Re: What are the view angles of the Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000?

I believe it is a 60 degree horizontal angle, and a 68.5 degree diagonal angle.
You can use this link to figure out the numbers (it's a table, so its kinda...

Re: Do you like polls?

Polls are good, because they give one concrete statistics of certain things. However, they're not so good for more ambiguous things, such as design. Explaining is better for those.

How many possible field configurations?

I was re-watching the kickoff video, and it says, "There are more than 10,000 possible field configurations..." My questions is, how many are there exactly?
My calculation is as...

Re: The Lessons From Week 0

About defenses: most teams can do most terrain-based defenses, as well as the low bar. The category A's seemed to be more of a challenge, as very few people attempted either the portcullis or the...

Re: Legality of stepstool

I think you can consider this a "signaling device" or an assist to a vertical height disability.

Re: Legality of stepstool

I think this would be certainly fine. Seeing as the rules only prohibit powered devices or vision-impeding things, a stepstool should be fine, as long as it isn't powered. Not that I can think of a...

Re: Fully breach multiple defenses or cross all defenses first?

I would say first breach the defenses your alliance partners can't do. Cross 'em twice. In the meantime, if your partners are shooting, they will have to cross something, so it will wear the easy...

Re: Win a Hat! (Its a really nice hat, its a really hard problem)

Here is a picture of our labview implementation of the code for this... It calculates angle based on the distance to the tower (horizontally), the height of the opening, and the velocity of the...

Re: What controls are you using this year?

We are using a HOTAS system (a joystick + throttle combo) along with an Xbox controller for the auxiliary driver.

Throttle Controller

Our team this year decided to use a throttle controller for one of our mechanisms (like the slider at the bottom of the Logitech X3D, but larger).

Are there any suggestions as to what controllers...

Re: How will your robot be scoring in autonomous?

Clear a defense and shoot a ball. Probably. Hopefully.

Re: Where will you go during autonomous?

We are probably going to cross a defense (any one we can to be flexible) and shoot a high goal. If we make it, yay!, if we don't, we can pick it up in tele-op and shoot again. Vision definetly

Re: Transferring data from RoboRealm to LabVIEW

I've been having similar problems where I get these errors (same ones) and garbage data.

EDIT: Due to this, we've decided to reformat our work into Vision Assistant, and go from there.

How legal/feasible is giving the spy a phone, and then using bluetooth low energy to send information to driver stations?

Re: Camera questions

Yes. You do need to. The camera acts as any sensor would, so you should open it in the begin VI and close it the finish VI.
Also, regarding the frame rate, I think you can keep the default one and be...

Re: Tuning PID

After you tune your P value, tune the I until the arm gets about to where it should be. The D value may not be necessary at all (0).

Re: Transferring data from RoboRealm to LabVIEW

What I am understanding is that roboRealm sends the data to the dashboard, and then the dashboard can send it to the roboRIO.

I think I understand how to get the data from the Dash to the roboRIO,...

Re: Transferring data from RoboRealm to LabVIEW

Does the connection have to go through Smart Dashboard? If so, where could I get it?

Also, in what library would one find the Network Tables/Smart Dashboard Protocols?

Thanks a bunch!

Transferring data from RoboRealm to LabVIEW

Hello!

Our team is implementing vision for the first time this year. We are using RoboRealm, and are able to detect the openings on the tower already. Our RoboRealm set-up finds two openings, their...

Re: Possibility for 2016 Game

The recent game focused on a current issue, so maybe they'll do that again. Or they will go back to sports-theme (basketball, frisbee, track in Overdrive, soccer, etc.)
