Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

The difference here is that no auto testing/driving practice can be done, which is typically the bulk of what needs to be done towards the end of build season.

Re: Build Spaces?

We used to be in the basement of our school, sharing a room with Railroad Club. The school built a new music/fine arts wing, and a couple of old rooms that used to belong to the art department became...

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

I think the idea here is that's it's more of a personal (or team) challenge within the team, not outside it. I know I definetly enjoy build season as a challenge that not only challenges me in the...

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

Let's be honest here, do people really care exactly how long we spend? Six weeks is an approximation. One good enough for PR purposes.
Example: If I tell you each of my classes is 42 minutes and 30...

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

I'd just like to mention one more thing that could play an impact: how we talk about FRC. A lot of times, when I'm describing FRC to people not involved with it, a big part I mention is the 6 weeks...

Re: 2017 game animation

Is it white or can you see through the lard? Look for big white blobs of lard. If they're not present it's bad lard

Re: 2017 game animation

This would be a great camera challenge - distinguishing between good and bad lard autonomously with just a camera.

Re: 2017 game animation

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

For now, I think removing stop build day will give too much of an advantage to district teams, who will be able to see how they perform before iterating it more and more, as compared to 1-regional...

Re: Sensor to detect boulder in robot?

I feel like a garage door IR sensor could be useful here, if you could hook it up. Something like that could be made very accurate.

Re: Side Project Ideas?

A hockey puck launcher. I'm sure there are several ways to approach this, and we actually tried this once during our offseason which went well.

EDIT: Just thought of something else: a custom driver...

Re: Poll: What do you use to control your bot?!?!

We use both an Xbox 360 and a Logitech joystick usually. This year, we tried a HOTAS system for base driving, which worked nicely.

Re: FIRST 4 year game theme cycle theory

On the other hand, there is a thing called confirmation bias. To some extent, I think we're all trying to stretch next year's game based on patterns that might not actually exist.

Re: 2017 - New England District Event Schedule

I agree that most of the distribution looks fine, but CT definetly needs another event (maybe towards the shore - New Haven would be great). Anyway, satisfied for this year. Good job NE! #weAreNE
