Re: Being Proactive About Paper Airplanes on Einstein

I watched a student dump an 18 gallon tote full of scouting papers over the balcony last year. It was literally dumping trash onto people below. I got into it with an adult on the team who watched it...

Re: Increasing tower strength for Championships.

I feel both breaching and capture should be increased to 12 for championship (cross 4 defenses 3 times each - 3 lights are already there).

Re: NEforecast: Week 3 UMASS Dartmouth

Great post as usual. We're excited to be competing in our backyard just over the state line - it gives our families and friends a chance to come check out this game and FRC.

After GSD, we analyzed...

Re: 50% of our AndyMark orders wrong

We've been ordering from AndyMark since their inception and have had only one issue. 1 item was omitted from a FIRST Choice order this season. That issue was fixed within a day of contacting...

Re: Bumper subforum

Even with the current sub forums, many users post everything and anything in the general forum. Having a bumper sub forum that I can ignore sounds great. Educating everyone to properly use sub...

Re: Robotics teams supported by Non Profit Group

AIR STRIKE 78 is managed by Aquidneck Island Robotics (AIR) - a nonprofit incorporated in December 2014. AIR was initially formed as a 4-H club in May of 2008.

For the 2015-2016 season, AIR is...

Re: SD540 Motor Controller

My team has been in at least two situations where a desire to save money has cost us a match. I won't get in to details.

In both situations, looking back to the decision to save money was the wrong...

Re: SD540 Motor Controller

Will the SD504Bs be FRC legal? What happens to the customers that purchased SD504s?

Re: [FRC Blog] 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition Administrative Manual

While this might make the manual easier to read, please refrain from rereleasing documents from FIRST to the public as the information is certain to change. I'm pretty sure FIRST's lawyers don't...

Re: [FRC Blog] Championship Badging and Housing Registration Opening

Experient blocks off just about all of the prime hotels. Finding a large block of rooms, within walking distance, outside of Experient, between now and champs is impossible. You would have to book...

Re: [FRC Blog] Championship Badging and Housing Registration Opening

The only way to make this better for future years is, unfortunately, to complain to FIRST and Experient. Someone in FIRST HQ should be on top of Experient to make sure the team database is up to date...

Re: [FRC Blog] Championship Badging and Housing Registration Opening

So this is frustrating. We are registered and paid with FIRST. We are on the championship waitlist, yet we do not show. However, seeing 696 and 987 able to register had me check other numbers...

See attachment for results when searching "78".

Re: Mythical Six Week Build Season

Here's another argument to the end of bag and tag: The monumental waste of resources.

FIRST put a lot of focus on recycling in the last year across all of their programs. You could argue however,...

Re: Why do team's fold?

Something I think all teams are guilty of is short-sightedness. This means only looking far enough out for the current season and not looking at the risks every team faces. I know I'm guilty of it...

Re: FRC Blog - Something New - Team 'Standards'

After looking over the specs, for our team, I see this as an additional way to recognize our sponsors.

My initial thought was to make the standard out of a vinyl banner instead of fabric or felt....

Re: [FRC Blog] Pit Set-Up and Trophies

It would be nice to know where the trophy cost savings are being applied. Other than that, happy to see logical decisions being made in FRC.
