Re: 1.1 Pump (am-3227) Really an improvement?
There's actually pictures of it here on CD I think if you browse the photos section a while. We did something similar to this on our 2011 bot, but we just mounted one of the 120mm fans next to the...

Re: 1.1 Pump (am-3227) Really an improvement?
I'm partial to the 100% duty cycle compressors myself, those light-duty compressors heat up way too much.
BTW, this is a good place to compare and find different compressor options (as well as other...

Re: Where to purchase wire?
When we first went to zipcord style wiring, we were able to get some (limited selection) locally from RadioShack (back when it was a thing), since they sold it as "speaker wire". More recently we...

Re: FRC Team 1296 New Car Raffle (2017 Mustang)
Just ordered a few tickets. Really neat fundraiser idea!
Even at 1 in 2500 those odds aren't bad for a prize like this, and it looks like you can still make a pretty good return even if you have to...

Re: Cooler Master Keyboard Giveaway
What's the latest date (approximately) that anyone could expect to receive a "surprise keyboard"? It would be nice to at least know if we're not getting one.

Re: Robostangs 548 2016 Offseason Rocker- Z6
Sometimes flexible is good though. Aluminum will deform when it takes an impact which can be difficult to fix without replacing the part, whereas polycarbonate will just flex and return to its...

Re: Graphics Cards for CAD?
To be honest it doesn't take much to run CAD/CAM comfortably. I personally am using an nVidia GTX 970 on my desktop at home to run Inventor, but I have also run it on a GTX 760 and 480 in the past...

Re: Robostangs 548 2016 Offseason Rocker- Z6
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with using polycarbonate (we've used it extensively throughout our chassis for years) but it looks like you're using maybe 1/8" at the most?
On our drive...

Re: Robostangs 548 2016 Offseason Rocker- Z6
Interesting Chassis! I am a bit curious as to what its intended purpose is though.
The only reason I could think of to use what appears to be thin polycarbonate on the side plates (and nowhere else)...

Re: VEXpro 2017
We desperately needed this for our robot this past season. The gearbox that controlled the angle of our intake arm was assembled in such a way that the intake roller essentially had to be destroyed...

Re: 3D Printed Parts on an FRC Robot?
I can't speak for everyone else, but I do know that Autodesk Inventor has a tool that allows you to generate standard sprockets/gears/pulleys of various sizes and tooth counts.

Re: Cooler Master Keyboard Giveaway
If the contest is, as Brandon mentioned, open to the first 50 teams/people who apply, then it could be inferred that they just haven't had 50 people apply yet. Alternatively it could also just be...

Re: 775pro .5" Hex Output Shaft
Why not just use a 1/2" Hex versa-planetary (http://www.vexrobotics.com/versaplanetary.html) with no reduction? The tolerances will be much better and you'll have the added bonus of standard mounting...

Re: 3D Printed Parts on an FRC Robot?
The only 3D Printed part we ever had an issue with was a PLA "spindle" we made for the elastic bands on the shooter of our 2014 robot (it prevented the bands from rubbing against the sharp 90 degree...

I did see those threads previously but to be honest we never had any issues wiring our CAN using Star. Aside from some poor crimping early on the system ran flawlessly throughout the season this past...

Re: Custom Gearbox is very loud
It's worth noting that if you are using Vex gears, running them to wear them down might not be advisable as you would be wearing down the protective ceramic coating and possibly exposing the 7075...

Unless you use a Star Topology.
We used a set of grounding strips as a central connection point for all of our CAN this past year, if we were to use one of these LED controllers we would simply drop...

Re: pic: High Traction Drivetrain Concept
The weight solution is a good one for pushing matches, but it affects turning in most drives and only works in one direction (often I've found you need to be able to push from either side).
The...

Re: pic: CGX-108 front
Every new design has to start somewhere. When Versaplanetaries first came out they didn't have nearly the testing hours they do now.
