Re: Found out why the pivot on our 2014 arm wasn't working

If one had failed before the others wouldn't you expect to see differences in the breaks or other damage elsewhere in the gearbox?

Re: Found out why the pivot on our 2014 arm wasn't working

How on earth did you get that stage to fail in 4 different spots at the same time? And all across the pin holes. Almost looks like someone cut it into 4 even pieces. :ahh:

Re: KOP now available for Fusion 360

True, though I would much rather work with the native format, a lot of things get lost in the .stp versions (constraints, colors, etc).

Re: KOP now available for Fusion 360

Speaking of the 2017 KoP, what version of Inventor will be required to open the 2017 KoP files? Last year I had Inventor 2015 installed and the files were made with 2016 and weren't backwards...

Seriously though, with so little ground clearance, couldn't this get stuck on something as small as an uneven spot in the carpet?

Re: pic: 1058 Low Expectations Intake Render

We built a very similar intake this past year but powered the rollers off of the upper feed system (to reduce motors and save weight), and direct-drove the angle-adjustment motor by internally...

Re: VEX Worlds on ESPN2 20 July 9 PM

This would be great, maybe then our streams won't keep getting taken down.

Re: pic: SERGE: Shirt-Ejecting Robot for General Entertainment

That would effectively turn it into a standard 4 wheel tank drive, which might actually be worse for turning due to the scrub it would induce than just staying with swerve enabled.

Re: Michigan summer event: ROBO-CON

Looking forward to attending myself, looks like a really neat event for the community.

Not quite the same type of thing, but if you were looking for a team activity for the off-season, there is an...

Re: X-Carve Upgrades

If you REALLY want a project, I've always wondered how practical it would be to modify the X-Carve to entirely be driven by lead screws or ball screws. It always seems like the belts have too much...

Re: What is the strangest issue with a robot you have ever seen?

Back in 2009 when the new cRio control system had just come out, we were experimenting with it on one of our older robots to test out the new control system. This was back before Watchdog was a thing...

Re: Very small torsion axles

Would anyone care to explain what building this type of axle accomplishes? I think I'm missing something here.

Re: Future FRC Technologies?

I think they had mentioned that they had tried a pico projector but that it wasn't bright enough.
Personally, I've been wondering about the possibility of taking a pico projector and mounting it so...

Well I was close, anyways.

I work with some of the guys who put together the electrical boxes and breakers that come on the FiM trucks, and they had mentioned at one point that FiM had...

Re: California District Proposal

To add to a few points...

This is one of the key things FiM has sought to address with districts in Michigan, by moving to High School venues, most if not all of the venue rental costs are...

We've used VEX ball shifters for roughly 3 years now and never had any issues with the housing. My first reaction is that they may be mounted improperly or are being exposed to external...

It's also worth noting that the volunteers in FiM do not necessarily have to volunteer at the event the team is attending to count. For example, if a team were competing in a week 3 and a week 4...

Re: Predictions: The Return of One Championship?

I think it's more that the $1000 goes to FiM, but not every event (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1548808&postcount=24) gets that funding available for their budget (though I...

Re: Predictions: The Return of One Championship?

Can't speak for how this would work for a larger event like Worlds, but as it is now, if I'm not mistaken, none of the money collected from registrations for events in Districts (at least for FiM)...

Re: Ontario Moving to District Model in 2017

To add this this, the funding is distributed on an "as available" basis, prioritizing newer teams. Meaning that if the funding runs out early (as it did this year) teams either don't get as much or...

Re: Predictions: The Return of One Championship?

Can't speak for other events, but at least in the case of Michigan, there's a way to go before the "Local Championship" Experience is anywhere close to Worlds. The production quality is just not...

Re: California District Proposal

Not entirely accurate, in Michigan at least, FiM seems to fund districts only "as needed" and strongly encourages district planning committees to find funding sources themselves. Our local district...

Re: Any way to track MARC scores?

Apparently the FMS can generate reports for match results that can be submitted to TBA to update the event page, though unfortunately this doesn't help with tracking scores and rankings in real time....
