Re: What can FIRST do to increase FRC team sustainability?

This assumes they even have a mentor team though. I would suspect many rookies do not, and some that do may not comunicate with them much.

I think it's important to remember that many new teams may...

Re: Integrating Encoder Into Gearbox

I like that encoder mount, looks like it would be really simple to take on and off for maintenance, not to mention light weight. Are there issues with the mount shaking while it runs, or does it all...

Re: Survey! Team Demographics

I assume this is looking for specifically information regarding students and not including Mentors?

Re: Custom Drive Stations

We got an HP Pavilion 17" with an AMD A10-8700P Processor, 8GB RAM and R6 Graphics; we also added a 500GB solid-state to it after we got it (cause 5400rpm drives are worthless). It came with a...

Re: Integrating Encoder Into Gearbox

While it wouldn't help you use the encoders you already have, that shaft design looks like it would be a perfect fit for a CTRE magnetic encoder...

Re: Off season T-Shirt Launching Tank Robot

Two questions:

What type of storage tank are you using for your accumulator, what pressure does it operate at, and where did you get it from?
What type of hose are you using between the...

Re: pic: Histogram of # years active for teams that have dropped out

The results (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15ys5j6c2QXwaIhTeKTSLQ5TfnfIJy1ee-8FHf0RXUS4/edit?usp=sharing) I got were similar, though the averages take into account older teams which plays...

Re: What can FIRST do to increase FRC team sustainability?

Hope no one minds, but I took the liberty of making a copy of that spreadsheet and adding a few more tabs to compare rates of team loss, as well as some graphs for showing team retention by team age....

Re: What Percent of Teams Use CAD?

Different version/brand in my case, but basically the same thing, yes.

Re: What Percent of Teams Use CAD?

One of our mentors brought in something like this a while back for the team to use for CAD, one of our kids really likes using it; I personally found it bizarre and hard to CAD with, so to each their...

Re: Weird Gearbox Sound

So, a few thoughts based on experience:

The first part of the video seemed like an electrical issue, like a dead battery or a short. The behavior was not indicative of a mechanical failure, at...

I think that team that had the like 40" screen still holds that title, not sure where the picture of it went though.

Re: Help us fill the gaps in the "Kit Of Parts"

The suggestion was more along the lines of taking a typical PC power supply (which generally output 3.3V, 5V, 12V and -12V DC) and having teams adapt them for FRC testing purposes. Not sure if this...

Re: Wearables in FRC

At one time, there was a short delay after autonomous, it was probably for scorekeeping, but such a delay could be used as a chance for drivers to connect wearables to the driver station without...

Re: Help us fill the gaps in the "Kit Of Parts"

On the note of cooling fans, I will just add that cooling fans can be VERY useful for controlling the temperature of the KoP pneumatic compressors, which can otherwise get VERY hot during extended...

Re: What Percent of Teams Use CAD?

I would suspect the vast majority of younger teams (0-3yrs) do not utilize CAD based on my observations.

Our team has used one form or another of CAD since about 2008, prior to that, one of our...

Re: Custom Drive Stations

Re: Name of Control System that replaces the driver station?

I believe dirtbikerxz might be referring to the ChapR Controller that was posted in this thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147803) a few weeks back. ;)

Re: Drive Train Controls

A problem easily resolved with automatic encoder correction code (to correct for inconsistency in drive base resistances and joystick output), and driver practice.

We've used "Tank Style" drive...
