Go to Post Are we really at the point where the only useful thing we can discuss is Dean's choice in timekeeping apparel? The man has a watch. He uses it to tell time. Do we really care how much it is worth, or who made it? I would be much more interested in what he does, not what he wears. - dlavery [more]

Re: Tape Measures Anyone?

What is the spacing, center to center between the colson wheels, and what size wheels are they?

Nice looking design, love the simplicity.

Re: 1.1 CFM Air Compressors?

Could you post the link for that calculator? I've been looking for something like this.

Re: pic: 4965 T-Shirt Robot

Personally I have mixed feelings about PVC barrels, to me it seems like any pressure buildup would be momentary and limited, and therefor not much of a concern. I will, however, agree with others...

Re: Xbox360 Kinect not working with GRIP on mac

Pardon my ignorance, but does the Kinect natively even support use on a Mac? A quick Google search only showed 3rd party work-arounds. I would lean towards thinking the issue is with the drivers for...

Re: pic: Team IFI 2016

So, is being an awesome team a prerequisite to, or the result of, being part of Team IFI?

Re: 1.1 CFM Air Compressors?

The VLAIR 330C-IG (http://www.viaircorp.com/330C-IG.html) is rated to 1.06 CFM at 12V and is 100% duty cycle, so no more overheating if it runs constantly...
The downside of course is that it also...

Re: Best CAM software

I'll second Inventor HSM, we used it for a variety of parts this year on our new X-Carve CNC Router. Fairly easy to pick up if you're already familiar with inventor, and no issues with it so far...

Re: Andymark Super Sonic shifters

What can I say, the Ball Shifters have been good to us and I hate to see them get a bad rep.

Honestly I have no clue how some teams are having such difficulty with the final stages, we...

Re: Keep FIRST in Michigan (FiM) from killing FIRST Lego League

I agree that there are examples of this being the case, but in Michigan it was more of the exception than the rule. Consider that prior to the switch to middle school there were like 20 FTC teams and...

Re: Andymark Super Sonic shifters

I'm partial to the VexPro 3CIM ball shifters (http://www.vexrobotics.com/vexpro/motion/3cimballshifter.html) myself. They're cheaper (by $70 or more), in all likihood lighter, and have more reduction...

Re: Keep FIRST in Michigan (FiM) from killing FIRST Lego League

The accomodating FTC part is the key thing here. Because of the prevalence of FRC in Michigan, there's no real place for FTC unless you move it to middle school. There were only a handful of FTC...

Re: Unfortunate Red Card Ruling on Newton

Exactly, it seems like many refs read the "tipping" part of the rule, but ignored the "Strategies aimed at the destruction or inhibition of ROBOTS" part.

Also, going back to what the OP claims the...

Re: 2016 IRI Rule Change Suggestions

You can't really get rid of both the drawbridge and the sally port, unless you plan to do away with the defense categories altogether and have teams put any defense in any slot. Aside from that, I...

Re: Unfortunate Red Card Ruling on Newton

My immediate response to this would have been: BASED ON WHAT RULE?

I'm getting so sick of all these invented excuses to give out Red Cards. Flipping is not an automatic red card, refs need to read...

Re: pic: The worst of the stripped VexPro gears

As I mentioned in the first thread on this topic: This is the best demonstration of why to traction-limit drive gearboxes.

In over 3 years and over 100 VP gears and 9 VP gearboxes, we have lost...

Re: Interested in an FRC-compatible remote control?

Looks interesting, and a nice alternative to buying a laptop just to run an old/demo bot.

A few questions:

What is the effective range? Last I checked Bluetooth was fairly short range compared to...

Re: Off season T-Shirt Launching Tank Robot

Re: Cheapish CNC machine

We've had pretty good experiences with our X-Carve, as others have said it's great for wood and polycarbonate, but you have to take it slow with aluminum (and use cutting fluid).

Really it all...

Re: pic: 3D printed beveled gears

What rpm do they run at? Also what motor/gearbox combination are you using to drive them (and what ratio)?
