Re: pic: Our x1902 Stuffed Oreo, See You In St. Louis

Wow, and here I thought our 3:1 was overkill.

Re: pic: Stripped VexPro gear

That would certainly do the trick. Makes me glad we traction-limited the low-gear on our drive system.

That said though, of the 100+ VEX aluminum gears we've used on our competition...

Re: Is FRC giving high CG robots a free pass on defense?

Videos like this upset me a bit, especially when I think back to a robot I saw in 2013 that was like 16" wide x 44" long x 50" tall (or something silly like that) that would tip over CONSTANTLY with...

What reduction are you using on that pair of 775pros out of curiosity?

Re: pic: Stripped VexPro gear

I'm curious about the circumstances that caused this; I'm having a hard time visualizing how getting stuck in the low bar could cause this kind of damage to a gearbox. Any more details you can share?

Re: Is Stronghold the roughest game yet?

When it comes to field-to-robot damage, I would agree that this year is probably one of the most rough I've seen. In terms of robot-to-robot damage though, I would actually call this years game...

Re: Driver Station/Operator Console Power

This. If there is some rule we all missed about the driver station power, it's not being enforced anywhere I'm aware of.

IMO, the biggest thing to be mindful of is how many amps you're pulling, so...

Re: Event A/V Wishlist

The problem with this is copyright. A mic that pics up the crowd will inevitably pick up the music, which will result in streams or archives getting muted or taken down. In my experience streaming...

Re: CIM to 3/8" Coupling?

If you have access to a 1/2" hex broach, it might be better to just drill and broach the bevel gear and use a standard CIM to hex adapter. Just a thought.

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

If I recall correctly, our budget accounts for overtime for like 1 or 2 of the schools janitorial staff for the event, and a few hours of time from a certified electrician (makes sure all the wiring...

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

Nope, typically events run at high schools in Michigan have 2 gymnasiums, the main gym is used for the field, the auxilary gym for the pits (though there are exceptions to this, as some schools use...

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

A few notes on this:

First, I'm not sure how other Districts run, but in Michigan most events are run out high schools and, as far as I am aware, have no "rental cost" to FiM or the event planing...

Re: pic: Districts in Minnesota Flyer

While I agree that having the 12 matches is great for getting better ranking results, one important thing to keep in mind is that playing 12 matches played over ~1.5 days with 40 teams is usually a...

Re: Plastic VersaFrame Rigidity

Depends on what you're using it for and how you're using it. We bought some of this to play around with at the beginning of the season. Initially we were going to use it as cross-bracing for our...

Re: What is supplied in the pits!

It's worth noting that at every event (that I know of anyways) there is nothing stopping a team from removing the provided table and using their own instead. If the size of the table is that critical...

Re: pic: Magnetic Grappling Hook

I'm pretty sure the cables used to engage the winch clamps would also be used for the lift so the whole thing, so the grasp and lift portion of the process would be done in one action. Sure,...

Re: pic: Magnetic Grappling Hook

I like the idea, definitely looks like it would help the claws engauge, though it does not appear to fix the problem of having to be basically perfectly lined up for it to catch. =/

Re: FRC Video Splitter (Beta)

To be fair, since it would only need to be used for off-season events there's no real rush to have it done between now and CMP. ;)

Would it be possible then to add the ability to select multiple matches on the match list at once and check or uncheck them as a group? Not a deal breaker obviously, but it would be a nice way to...

Re: FRC Video Splitter (Beta)

I'm loving version 2, much easier to use and the data pull feature actually works correctly. Honestly I wish I had this a few weeks ago when I ran the stream for our local district, it would have...
