Re: Serious bug identified in SmartDashboard/NetworkTables -- robot hangs

We punted the network tables stuff early in the season and went with straight up UDP sockets. There are a lot of misconceptions in the WPILib code regarding network communications. E.g., if you...

Re: Using atan2 on the cRIO

Hmm... We used the atan2 function in the 2010 bot with no problems. A quick check on the bot shows both an atan and an atan2 in the symbol table. From the netconsole prompt:
-> lkup "atan"
atan ...

Re: Enhanced I/O in 2015?

Yeah, we've done this in the past on our bots as a "skunk works" kind of project. Our mechanicals group never seems to leave any space on the bot for mounting any indicators let alone providing a...

Re: Enhanced I/O in 2015?

Well, we already have rearranged things. But, that stil doesn't address the issue of being able to create a dedicated IO controls box to make the game more playable. We're just looking to see if in...

Re: Enhanced I/O in 2015?

If it were just one LED, we could certainly do that. But, there are a number of such LEDs for different subsystems (e.g., ball ready to shoot, within range for a shot, ball jammed, etc.). Not...

Enhanced I/O in 2015?

Hi beta testers!

Do you know if there will be an EnhancedIO in the 2015 control system? We've typically been using the Cypress board for digital outs, i.e., status LEDs on our IO controls box. ...

Re: Mecanum hubs and mounting

Hmm... OK, thanks for the tips. As we're just using them as a pre-season project, I suspect that we'll be able to muddle through. However, it sounds like these wheels will not make it onto the real...

Mecanum hubs and mounting

Greetings!

I've come into possession of a set of AM 8" HD mecanum wheels. Now, I'm trying to figure out mounting a hub on these. I've got the AM 375 hex hubs and they certainly fit. However,...

Re: Downloading Code and Jaguars Issue

We've have similar problems with WRS when trying to run on a 64-bit machine. Our solution was to use Filezilla to FTP to place the code.
FTPing to the cRIO is pretty straightforward. Open a session...

Re: Build Error(s)

It looks like you're building the wrong kind of project. The build indicates that you're trying to build a .exe which would be a native project instead of a VxWorks 6.x Downloadable kernel Module...

Re: Which Linux distributions do you use?

+1 for Mint. I've used Connamon, Mate, XFCE and currently KDE. XFCE is great for a lower powered laptop. KDE really requires GPU acceleration to make it fly with lots of eye candy.

Re: PCDuino!! Talk about potential

UVC is and interface for USB webcams from vendors like Logitech among others. You can install the package using "sudo apt-get install luvcview". That's a video capture framework. It may not be...

Re: New REQUIRED version of C++ libraries

Hi Greg,

Yeah, I could believe that. Given the number of packets in normal driver station comms, I could see that there's likely a fair amount of 802.3x flow control packets if the switches are...

Re: New REQUIRED version of C++ libraries

Hmm... Disabling TCP_NODELAY. That will add several ms of latency to the link. Was there a problem in polling the socket connection that required this? Just curious because in almost 30 years of...

Re: PCDuino!! Talk about potential

The ARM Cortex A8 in the AllWinner A10 includes both the Mali-400 GPU and the ARM NEON instruction unit. The NEON is used for audio/video CODEC decoding (e.g., vision processing) as well as running...

Re: Labview Arduino Interface

Yeah, we're using CCI boards at the moment. That handles the inputs. But, our drivers want all kinds of status LEDs and it's the outputs that are troublesome at the moment. We're currently...

Labview Arduino Interface

Greetings!

Has anyone had any success with the Labview Arduino interface library? We need a lot more inputs and outputs on the operator interface than the Cypress board can supply and we'd like...

Re: Android Controll System

So, did this project ever make any progress? I'm very curious as to being able to attach Android or Arduinos to the driver station. We need a lot of I/O for this year's design.

TIA,

Mike

Re: Programmatic way to determine 4-slot vs. 8-slot cRIO?

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at that file. You're correct in that the solenoids are now simply references as module 1 and module 2. I was having a senior moment remembering back to when...

Programmatic way to determine 4-slot vs. 8-slot cRIO?

Greetings!

Is anyone aware of a way in software to determine whether code is running on a 4-slot vs. an 8-slot cRIO at runtime? We only have one 4-slot chassis and that's on the competition 'bot....

Re: Multiple cameras

I 2nd the notion of watching your frame rate to the driver station. They're bandwidth limiting the comms to only 7 Mbps this year. 320x240x30 FPS is 1/3 of your bandwidth without some serious...

I know Jean Labrosse personally. μC/OS is a nice RTOS if you have the right kind of application. They now have a company called Micrium that sells the updated version of μC/OS.

There...

Re: TCP Listening in C++ -- BUG in WPILib

We used UDP on the 'bot last season for communicating from Arduinos to the cRIO. The one thing that we found is that the WPILib has issues with unread UDP packets. Evidently, the WPILib is always...
