Re: Best Event Giveaways
Since your name is Cooler Master, I think an awesome thing to do would be motor coolers. AndyMark sells one made by NextGen Robotics, but I've heard not great things about it (link...

Re: Favorite Team Moments
While technically not in my time on 1982, it's become an infamous moment in our history, and is still told to today. Supposedly, in 2009, we were #1 all the way up to our very last qualification...

Re: Build season week 1
We split up into sections of two or three people each, doing 10-20 pages each. We'll do some analysis of all of the different scoring options, but we don't talk about robot design at all at this...

Re: Show off your custom clipboards!
I'd like to thank 1986 to giving all the teams at the GKC regional a very nice clipboard with a little encouragement on it and a field diagram on the other side. Probably the nicest regional gift...

Re: Best in your State/Region
I'd post some for our little happy tribe of Kansas teams, but thankfully, someone on 1108 went ahead and did it for me. I can now officially say that I'm #4 in the state (by RP), which is a great...

Re: LED RGB Lighting
First, I'm going to assume that you meant MOSI, saying I have no idea what MOSL is. The Adafruit guide mentions that the DotStars may not work with 3.3v signals, which the RoboRio provides. You can...

Re: Themes for FRC games
Honestly, I didn't see much use of it. For most people, they saw the theming on the field and screen and went "That's cool" then focused on the robot. Our team shirts were vaguely stronghold themed,...

Re: LED RGB Lighting
We personally haven't used the DotStars, but we used NeoPixel equivalents in the past. We used one of the 12V to 5V regulators on our 2014 bot to drive them there through a Arduino.

Re: Let's Talk About Your Team's Computers
We have the privilege of having a crap ton of computers provided to the school. The downside is only three of them are technically ours.
We have basically the entire school's CAD lab's worth of...

Re: LED RGB Lighting
A slightly more expensive alternative to NeoPixels are Adafruit's own Dotstar lineup. They are slightly more expensive than NeoPixels, and don't come in as many varieties, but just simply use SPI and...

Re: How many off season events?
While I am also disappointed that there's only one in KC, there are other options. For one, you can try 5013's Drive Hard event (https://trobots.org), or you can try a close by off season. KC FIRST's...

Re: Inter-District Play for 2017
I think you're underestimating how few teams would take advantage of this. Saving $3000 in terms of admittance costs means we have a giant budget compared to what we would use for a second regional,...

Re: Inter-District Play for 2017
As a lower budget team in a regional area, if there were a district close enough (for example, Texas), we would go to that in a heart beat. I find it disheartening that they still do not allow non...

Re: New Vex Motor Controller?
I believe I saw it somewhere. It's a much more powerful motor that what we've had, similar in style to a Victor SP or Talon SRX. The only place I could find info on it was here:...

Re: Like old computers? Check out my website!
Wow, this is quite an impressive collection. One thing, the navigation bar is a little wonky. I'd suggest moving the computers and test equipment to their own main menu drop, because when I mouse...

Re: [FF]: 2016 IRI Draft
Now that we're done with sign ups, and I don't feel guilty about ruining the post count = people signed up ratio, can someone explain how we submit pick lists and the such? I've never done this...

Re: Future FRC Technologies?
I think it would fall under the same ruling as the current method getting match time through code. Don't rely on it, it's not legal for replays, and use it at your risk.
