Re: Eliminations replay card

To be blunt: ugh, no, this [redo card] is a bad idea.

Detractors:

-You're going to make another alliance subject their robots to another match because you screwed up, or you'll play a match with...

Re: Competition volume

At Hartford this weekend the DJ/AV guy had the sound for buzzers/bells cranked to an insane level. I politely asked him to turn it down and he did. The rest of the weekend was much more pleasant than...

Re: Team 95 Hard At Work - 2015

It really is! Though we need to stock up on some rubbing alcohol for our pit. Gotta clean off everything really well for VHB to work to its potential.

We also used VHB and zip-ties to terminate one...

Re: Team 95 Hard At Work - 2015

I forgot to mention the on snafu we had with the IR sensors: the plastic house on them is designed to be shielding, and thus it is conductive. We had to isolate the housings with some VHB from the...

Re: Team 95 Hard At Work - 2015

Thank you very much! I was pleased with our alliance making it to semi-finals at such a competitive event, thank you 3146 and 173!

The 6x tote pull is a subset of what we've been working on. In...

Re: Team 95 Hard At Work - 2015

It was nice to meet you yesterday!

I've got a few reasons why I think moisture intrusion might have been the case:

First, it wasn't as if a few components just rusted, there was a concerning...

Re: Indiana Religious Freedom Bill

I think that this is an interesting question, but the thread should be moved to 'Chit-Chat' as it's not DIRECTLY about FIRST/FRC.

The question is about how, if at all, teams should react to a...

Re: Best Type of Drill Bits from McMaster or Otherwise?

To dreictly answer the OP - high speed steel jobbers bits are great for 90%+ of FRC applications. If you do a lot of wood drilling look into these bits:...

Re: compressor is heating up to the point it blows hose

x2

This has worked very well for us for several years, especially when combined with mounting all of the metal fittings directly to the compressor.

Re: You Guess: Event with 'Most Competitive' Elimination Matches

I think Hartford CT will be brutal this weekend!

Several teams in attendance have wins already:

95
173
195
230 (x2)
236
3146

Re: 1114 the Statistical Outlier

138 pulled a can out of our gripper in GSDE in week 1! ;)

We've been working to counter that move since...

Re: Transportation of students to events question

I would suggest that you try to find someone within the school system to help you out.

We encountered the same issue. As it turns out that there was a lot of misunderstanding, ignorance, paranoia...

Re: When The Magic Works

We were the 3rd pick! 20/195 did for us what 195/181 did for 20 the year prior. We were inspired to do better! I will forever be grateful to 20 and 195 for that.

Boy... it's getting awfully dusty in...

Re: When The Magic Works

First: congratulations! Your team has achieved a tremendous accomplishment.

Success breeds success. When the magic worked for us check books opened, alliance captains took notice, and my team...

Re: Anti-tipping algorithm

#teamnotippingincode

Good work!

We had a similar implementation, but were able to simplify it to an open-loop control on our arm's drive with a high success rate.

Re: Best landfill bots

1519!

1519 has two district event wins and two #1 seeds from mining the landfill every time. It is obvious that they are quite effective at it.

Re: Team 95 Hard At Work - 2015

First thing we found when unbagging this weekend was that a lot of moisture had worked its way into the robot bag and rusted a number of bearings and pins. Here is some of the (cleaned up) aftermath....

Re: Teams scoring vast majority of points

I would suggest OPR as well. It's the best way we have so far to tease out each teams' individual contributions without actually watching every match.

Re: What are your victories?

My personal objective is for my team to make a robot that is weird but extremely effective and has one feature that virtually no other robot has.

As a team we strive for sustainable improvement...

I'd prefer to get some of those coins with holes in them and bolt them down.

Re: What to use for ballast

If you need a triple-redundancy in your ballast you're doing it wrong. I know this was just a hypothetical, but I want to hypothetically discourage teams from opening this can of worms (bag of...

Re: what to do if the other alliance reneges on coop

I really appreciate when teams talk about what happened with co-op post-match. It does no good to mark a team off your pick list if there is a reasonable explanation for what happened.

I felt bad...

Re: What to use for ballast

This is how we put it together since we didn't know until weigh-in what our weight situation was.

You didn't think it would be a bad idea to bring an (I assume) raw form of known carcinogenic and...
