Re: Worst you've seen to the Defenses?
Well... We had our drive gearboxes unprotected... (I think you can see where this is going) and during a Qual match at Denver we drove over the Ramparts hit our CIMs and sheared one of them...

Re: pic: Team230 Damaged Frame Rail
So I suppose I should have clarified. I agree that structurally the tube concept is overkill. It adds support the rail doesn't really need. We did this because we felt that just pressing the bearings...

Re: Who makes their own wheels?
We made wheels during the 2016 season for our shooter. We needed flywheels and we found some in our many years worth of old stuff and were going to use them but realized that a) the shaft hole and...

How many robots driving simultaneously?
At an event at Woodward Governor last night I saw three 159 robots drive at once, and there was another in our shop that was capable of driving and will be this weekend at NoCo Maker Faire. So we...

Re: Mecanum Demo-Bot Recommendations?
Yes, R.C. we were using the updated rollers. The robot they were on was from 2015's game. I would expect that they broke because in 2015 my team had a large number of problems, and that directly...

Re: Mecanum Demo-Bot Recommendations?
We have had VEX mecanum wheels break on us. It seems like everyone else has had a good experience with them so take my advice with a grain of salt. AndyMark mecanums are more durable. The VEX ones...

Re: Side Project Ideas?
I would suggest something that we have been doing. We are an old team and as such have random parts of old robots lying around. We have cobbled them together to make something new. It was pretty easy...

I realized I didn't give an answer! I think my favorite robot movie of all time is Star Wars (It has robots in it). Transformers 4 did have an FRC robot in it though...

Hello CD!
Recently I have seen a couple of VERY old threads brought back to life and I have decided to try something fun. Every Monday I will find a thread that hasn't been posted to in 5+ years and...

Re: Hardest Shooting Robots
Although not a robot from this year the most powerful shot I have ever seen was 159's robot from 2014. It was a catapult and the power it had was incredible overkill. The catapult was powered by four...

Re: Looking for a hassle-free 3D printer
I'm going team Lulzbot as well. My school has a number of 3D printers and I would say in terms of ease of use Dremel 3D printers are good for $1,000. But if you're willing to spend and extra ~$2,000...

Re: Water Game 2017
I think FIRST will give us a water themed game, you know like how Stronghold was Middle Ages/Castle themed. They'll give us a game about water but without any actual water in it.
