Re: New Talon Speed Controller

This is a misprint. It should read "when disabled" not "after power is cut".

Re: New Talon Speed Controller

I forward MAX continuous = 60mA
I forward Peak = 3 amps

I turn-on MAX= 1.6mA

Re: New Talon Speed Controller

There are some other differences:

- Smaller footprint
- Lower mass
- Improved ingress protection
- Secure PWM connection
- Brake is maintained during disable
- PWM input can be split (2 Talons on...

Re: paper: Talon, Victor884, Victor888, and Jaguar speed vs torque tests

The Talon input is interrupt driven so it can be updated at ~2.1 ms. We published 3 ms to add conservatism for variations due to calibration points and non standard pulse widths.

If the input...

Re: FRC Blogged: - Motor Controllers

Something to think about.

-The Victor has been around for over a decade.
-It has never had internal over current protection and it has not affected it's performance on the field.

With the few...

Re: New Talon Speed Controller

Ok,

Sit down, relax...I assure you the sky is not falling.

There were a couple typos in the user manual, the ACTUAL expected pulse width is 1.0-2.0 ms with the center = 1.5 ms. The user manual...

Re: New Talon Speed Controller

This was a typo in the User Manual. The actual refresh rate is 333Hz or (3 ms). The input capture is driven by an interrupt so as long as there is some space between the edges of the input pulse,...

Re: Victor 888: Upgrade to the Victor 884

The output duty cycle is scaled linearly to the input, no additional math was needed to obtain a linear output.

The FRC version of the Jaguar has always been a high side switching synchronous...

Re: Victor 888: Upgrade to the Victor 884

Oh that problem. That was the PTC. We have used Jags on our window motors since 2009 and have never seen a problem like this that was not caused by the PTC. Also I would like to correct some...

Re: Victor 888: Upgrade to the Victor 884

This would not reduce the cost any significant amount. The only difference between a 20 amp design and a 40 amp design is the choice of FET's. A Fet with a lower continuous drain current would most...

Re: Victor 888: Upgrade to the Victor 884

If the fan came with the Talon then it's use would be mandated, if FIRST decides to make it legal. Having the fan separate would allow teams to only use the fan when necessary thus allowing for a...

Re: Problem with Black Jaguars, unable to update, stopped blinking

Ok,

There was a bug in the 2CAN Jaguar firmware update utility that caused the firmware attempt to fail on the first attempt. This bug has been fixed in the latest 2CAN firmware found here...

Re: Magic 2CAN

This is correct and also the case with the Jaguars. The grounds are common through the CAN cable. This should not affect performance. There are some thoughts that suggest having a ground return...
