Re: Bearings keep slipping out of place

For the Vexpro Clamping Gearboxes, Plastic Clamping Bearing Block and Versablock. The flange of the bearing should be inside and contacting the extrusion. This should prevent the bearing from falling...

Re: 6 CIM motors max, but unlimited AndyMark Bane-Bot motors

Full size CIM's are the only motor that has a 'limit' this season.

This is not related to the limit, but Andymark does not actually have "Bane-bots" motors, are you talking about the 550 style 9015...

Re: Flying?

A fixed wing could probably work but, would require a big flight surface. Perhaps the control system with router, would not have sufficient range to comfortably fly the aircraft without risk of loss...

Re: Flying?

The amount of thrust needed to lift the the control system+battery, would be greater than the current the battery can provide, even without the fuses and main breaker being a problem. Lifting even...

Re: Creativity Award to Champs

How about the robot you built in seven hours at Champs that seemed like a pretty unique design:)

As I see it, the Creativity award already rewards teams....

Re: Creativity Award to Champs

I think that most creative robot designs do not come about incidentally, but through the development of a very interesting and creative strategy. In 2015, we saw some stand-out and very unique robot...

Re: Sonic Shifter - recent feedback?

That looks really nasty, did you contact VEXpro.

I can see why your reluctant to use a ball shifter again

Re: Sonic Shifter - recent feedback?

Both the WCP DS and the AM sonic shifter are dog-shifting style gearboxes.

An encoder can be fitted to the Sonic shifter out of the box, while a WCP DS does not, but a grayhill or CTRE mag encoder...

Re: WCP vs Vex Ball Shifter

I've checked on the FIRST Choice website 2016 and it's the AMT103-V, I'm not sure about 2015.

The AMT103-V is almost identical in size to the AMT102-V, the problem is that the encoder output pins...

Re: WCP vs Vex Ball Shifter

Both the WCP DS and the VEXpro ball shifters are good quality.

Only the VEXpro ball shifter has a 3rd stage

The output shaft of both gearboxes is made from 7075 Aluminium that is anodised....

Re: 6 CIM robo-rio brown out

The high electrical draw of the CIMs such as when turning or accelerating or pushing can lower the overall system voltage, when it goes lower than a 6.8v the roborios inbuilt brownout protection...

Re: paper: JVN's Mechanical Design Calculator 2016

The unique sheets for each WCP/VEXPRO gearbox should make things a lot more straightforward

Re: Welcome 5800! Brazil

The off-season robot looks fantastic, great work team 5800. It has been so good to see you guys grow and develop this off-season. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with for next season.

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

Thanks for clarifying the meaning of Power pathway. I thought that it meant that must be a direct pass-through without being interrupted by a sensor or relay etc. I was taking it in a rather literal...

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

In long distance power transmission, a transformer is used to increase voltage to crazy high amounts. This reduces the power-loss and means that a less thick wire is required.

Obviously no custom...

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

Well the KOP 12awg wire seems to not fit in a 30amp contact.

The other issue is the insulation, the insulation of the sp and SRX wire barely fits into a 45amp connector. I'm not complaining though,...

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

For the official season, we used a mini-cim and a 12:1 gear ratio on our stacker. Before our first Off-season event we converted our practise robot into a landfill bot, with a CIM and a 10:1, this...

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

"PWM COTS servos with a maximum power rating of 4W each at 6VDC
Per the Servo Industry, Servo Max Power Rating = (Stall...

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

That is a very good point, hadn't though about that. That is very interesting to think about.

What 10awg wire did you guys use, and how well does it fit into a 45a powerpole?

Re: pic: Recycle Rush Re-design Part 2

Great looking design, I came up with a similar thing on paper before one of our Off-season events, didn't end up building it though.

My weight calculations were about 18lb, with a 10:1...

While I don't see there being a battery that is clearly better than others.

There are batteries which would be more suited to the abuse and the high current draw that FRC batteries typically ...

Re: WCP DS Encoders

The WCP DS is not designed to mount an encoder, as for shifting gearboxes this will cause complications when writing code to calculate distance travelled etc. However, there is a very nice 3D...

Re: REV Sparks or Vex Victor 888?

With the discontinuation of the Banebots motors( 775 and 550 mainly) there was the potential for a huge power deficit between the motors available to rookie teams and those of veteran teams,...
