Re: Screw Size for Tetrix Motor

I don't believe that there is a shaft encoder for the Tetrix Motor. You might be thinking of the Andymark Neverest motor( it's quite a bit larger) which has a hall effect encoder mounted to the back...

Re: [FTC]: Linear Slide Thoughts

If you go to the DATA tab on the JVN calculator you can add different types of motors to it by filling in the different columns in the Motor Specifications Table. The motor that you have filled in...

Re: Using a 775pro in Dusty Conditions

If your looking to reduce weight a brushless inrunner will be more powerful for the same weight and will be sealed. The resources you need such as flashing brushless ESC's with SimonK is quite well...

Re: Best Event Giveaways

A heat sink or fan mounted to the motor( BAG, 550,775) will help reduce heat build-up over the long term, but unless the heat-sink is made of a super-conductor, it won’t be able to draw the...

Re: Optimal motor controllers?

If your using Talon SR’s are they are working well for you there isn’t necessarily a need to change (providing you have a decent stockpile that will last you a few more seasons).

The SPARK and the...

Re: Non-FIRST Motor Suggestions?

Yes it is the number of gear-teeth, the same applies for the number of teeth on sprockets or belts. You can also just type in the reduction that you want say 1:3 etc.

Some gearboxes have more than...

Re: Non-FIRST Motor Suggestions?

I would seriously suggest using the JVN calc, it's really helpful and pretty easy to use. It will save you a lot of headaches, time and potentially a lot of money...

Re: Non-FIRST Motor Suggestions?

In regards to the gearboxes, you need to carefully consider your gearing. A Toughbox Micro( geared for 12.75:1) is going to mean that your robot is geared for about 14.6fps with 8inch wheels(without...

Re: Non-FIRST Motor Suggestions?

I wasn’t necessarily suggesting just getting the motor/gearbox assembly.
The entire wheelchair base, seems to fit your requirements well. You should be able to get the base of an old wheelchair much...

Re: Non-FIRST Motor Suggestions?

If your looking for a low-cost solution to those requirements I would recommend getting the base of an old electric wheelchair. Lots have two rear wheels independently driven and casters in front,...

Re: Anybody have extra throttle motors in the Bay Area?

We designed a gearbox for the Denso Motor that gives it a 7.5:1 reduction and a 1/2 hex output shaft. We manufacture these gearboxes ourselves and have donated them to new and inexperienced teams in...

Re: pic: Experimental VP drive gearbox

The reason the VP load rating charts are very different is that the 775pro has a free speed of around 18730rpm and produces 0.71 N.m of torque at stall. The CIM on the over hand has a free speed of...

Re: Chain vs. Belts?!?

A 4mm metric allen key is recommended( what it is designed for) which is handy for us being an Australian team and using a lot of metric( M5 and M6) hardware. In reality 5/32 inch is 3.97mm so there...

Re: Chain vs. Belts?!?

This is a topic that is discussed quite often.

There is a good white paper written by team 234 which evaluates the power transmission methods:

Re: Future FRC Technologies?

There isn't a lot stopping you from using LiFePO4 batteries on your robots for demos and practice time out of competition, it'd be good for demo's but there would probably be a performance difference...

At $2 each for bulk purchasing that’s only really $30 with probably $5-10 worth of spacers if using VEXpro ones

If you look at a decent...
