Re: Powering an FRC-like system from a wall outlet

Yes, that should work for you. In regards to turning 12v into 5v to power your control system. You should be able to disassemble a car 12v to 5v USB charger in order to obtain your 5v ( just make...

Re: Powering an FRC-like system from a wall outlet

Hi Eric,

I’ve inputted the numbers into the Linear Motion page of the JVN calculator, and it seems that the Mini-CIM isn’t going to draw a huge amount of current. The calculator gave an...

Re: Orange County, CA Offseason Event

I'd suggest liquid cooling for that, the PLA CPU on my 3D printed computer melted when I tried to run Solidworks. When I last checked 3D printed CPU's didn't meet the minimum system...

Re: Electrical connectors on control system items

For me I value the ability to combine connectors into one main block and the ability to easily differentiate between positive and negative connectors. The power-poles also come standard with quite a...

Re: Help us fill the gaps in the "Kit Of Parts"

Just to be clear, CIM’s can’t really be cooled effectively with fans, there is little to no point using fans on CIM’s during matches, but between matches they can help, but...

Re: Custom Drive Stations

General warning about Plexi-glass.

Plexi-glass AKA acrylic and is rather prone to cracking and breaking. If your resources allow it I would try and use Polycarbonate it'll be easier to work with,...

Re: Motor sizing

Hi Mreda,

I’ll echo what Roboruler said, it doesn’t seem like you have a lot of robotics knowledge, but this is a great way to learn and you will indeed learn a lot through this...

Re: What COTS parts would you like to see?

This would be very useful, depending on the input motor and the reduction there would be significant torque on the bevel gears( if bevel gears were used). It might be difficult to find small enough...

Re: Last minute Question on Lights

PCM is an option, but if you are using pneumatics you'll need to be careful with how much current you draw( this depends on how powerful your LEDs are)

Re: Last minute Question on Lights

Yes, we are using a spike to control the high power light ring on our robot and it works great. You'll need to be able to run you LEDs on 12v to be able to use it

We are there somewhere, we might be hidden under 3132 as we both only have Sydney in TIMS. If you click on the dot in Sydney we should appear.

Re: CAW Question

It isnt super clear but yes if it has/did come in the KOP then you don't even have to include it in the sheet, even if you bought extras.
