Re: WCP: 2017 Product Launch + MCC 2017

I know I say this every year but now with even more of your own products you should really consider stocking them in the VEX Ontario warehouse. Shipping times are obviously crucial in FRC and I think...

Re: SRX Encoder Breakout Options

I would suggest using the CTRE Mag encoder over the US digital one. It's designed to works smoothly with the talon SRX and no breakout or custom wiring is necessary to use it.

The US digital...

Re: pic: New gear failure on 2471

Of course hex shafts produce stress concentrations. It's just that the induced stress is far lower. They are also far more convenient in a number of ways.

And that kids is why keys suck and we should be very grateful for the advent of hex shaft solutions in the last couple of years.

Re: [FRC Blog] 2017 Motor (and Servo?) Controllers and MXP

Wow, that makes me put a lot less faith in the product.

Re: [FRC Blog] 2017 Motor (and Servo?) Controllers and MXP

I have a feeling that the DMC-60 might be a Vex OEM product. NI also offers a lot of post secondary educational robotics solutions and it could be an addition to the product line that also has use in...

While I love our m18 tools I'd seriously recommend checking out Milwaukee's m12 line.I've found that most of the time the trade off of having a little less power is worth the lighter weight and...

Re: How do *you* light your pit?

I bought one of these 4' LED shop lights (http://www.costco.ca/Luminus%C2%AE-LED-Shoplight.product.100291849.html) for my shop recently and I love it. Because it's a dedicated LED fixture it is super...

Re: New AM Shrink Tube Solder

Anything that reduces the chance teams will show up with screw terminals or wire nuts for all their connections is a good thing in my books.

Re: [FRC Blog] Judged Awards in 2017

Why does the observer have to be an adult mentor? We aren't lucky enough to have a chairmans mentor and it would be nice to have a rookie to take that place and learn the ropes.

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

I'm just kidding, none of the people who were involved on 865 in 2006 are still on the team today nor is it something we would repeat.

We use the thread as an example of how not to post on CD.

Re: STEAM Actually comming to FRC, and im not happy

If anything the switch from STEM to STEAM open up additional sponsorship opportunities. When a corporation donates to FIRST they can now say that they support both arts and technology in schools. Two...

Re: Team 254 Presents: Dropshot Technical Binder 2016

I guess it's only okay to use machine tools to spin up a shooter wheel when 254 does it ;) (https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41670)

Re: GT2 Timing Pulleys

3D printing timing belt pulleys to go on a 1/2 hex is pretty doable if you have reasonably high quality 3D printer. If your using a GT2 timing belts the forces are low enough that you shouldn't have...

Re: Build Season Schedule Questions?

I've always liked skipping Mondays and Fridays (unless Monday is a holiday) and doing the rest. Seems to help with burnout as the breaks are evenly space time wise.

Re: NeveRest 60 in FRC

With the widening of the servo rules you could get a similarly powerful servo and not have to purchase another motor controller.

Re: pic: Swerve Render

Heat and some force should get it off without too much issue. CIMs are relatively cheap and reliable anyway.

Re: pic: Swerve Render

Retention Compound (also made by Loctite) should work well. It can fill much larger gaps than threadlock.

Re: ShopBot Desktop router up for the challenge?

This style of spindle has become common enough in Chinese CNC machines that (assuming the specs match) they are all basically identical and likely made in the same factory. There is no "knock off"...
