Re: pic: Help with solid works gears

This table (http://www.engineersedge.com/gear_formula.htm) is what I use for all of my gear work. I find that it has everything I need when working with gears. Keep in mind that you should leave a...

Re: Radio communication

Although I don't know the specifics on how this might work (or if it's even possible) you could look at using an arduino Ethernet or an Ethernet shield paired with an arduino to receive the commands...

Re: Radio communication

Although I haven't with the roborio, I have done something like this using an arduino. I took an RC remote receiver and hooked its outputs up to the analog inputs on the arduino. I could then...

Re: Which robot(s) did you like the best this year?

Not on the poll, but my favorite robot this year was by far 2826. Was following their success at their regionals and rooting for them all through worlds. By far one of (if not THE) best robot this...

Re: Experience with 3D Printed Gears

We used PLA 3d printed gears on our drive transmissions hooked up to an encoder for position feedback. They worked absolutely great. We took the cad files of a vex 24t, 20dp gear, modified it to fit...

Re: pic: Small CIM in wheel swerve

Are you certain your materials are set correctly? A mini CIM weighs 2.16lbs according to VEX. If they are set correctly and that is in fact how light the module is, than I must say, very impressive.

Re: Sheet Metal Fabrication vs. Using Channel

All he is saying is that if you take weight from the chassis and put it into a system that is even half an inch higher, you have raised your COM. Depending on your robots design, this may not be an...

Re: pic: PBL-104: Planetary Ballshifter

How do you plan on getting the ring gear? Do you plan to make it yourself or do you have a source for one that you can purchase?

Re: Piggy Plotter - Exploding Bacon's Autonomous Designer

I love the idea behind this. One thing that I noticed however is that it looks like this only supports tank drives at the moment. Although an omnidirectional drive could use this, it doesn't utilize...

Re: Localization of A Omni-Directional Robot

The biggest issue with this method is wheel slippage. Say I accelerate to quickly, or I get into a pushing match and my wheels start to spin because they lost traction. All of a sudden my robot...

Re: What is Your Team's Application Process?

Back in 2013, Ontario faced bill 115 causing many teams to not be able to compete that year. Our team was fortunate enough that year to become considered an official course within our school allowing...

Re: Localization of A Omni-Directional Robot

I corrected my post to include the gyro. I was thinking of it in my head but forgot to add it in. The third follower wheel for rotation is a good idea as well.

Re: Localization of A Omni-Directional Robot

What about 2 omni wheels placed perpendicular to each other that drag along the floor. As the one in the y axis moves, it gives you your position in the y axis and the same as with the x. Although I...

Re: Do we want another game without defense?

This was a very fun game to play in vex and I'm certain it would a great one to do in FRC. Autonomous ranged anywhere from basic drive forward, to a complex series of movements going about the field...

Re: Throttle control motor gears?

The biggest advantage to me is their availability. Almost every year we get at least one of these in the KOP (this year we got 8!) and they just keep piling up in our work space. A gearbox that...

yes there was another thread recently with a similar ambition as mine. I too am looking into possibly trying to make a gearbox for these motors. If I can make one that is reasonably easy to make, it...

Re: FRC Team 271 teaser

That's 33.6lbs of CIMs alone, let alone the gears (heck the gears look like steel too) on that thing. Would it be possible to get a weight on those? what on earth needs that much power?
