Re: Everyone's A Winner?

You're using your winning as a means to become a Chairman's caliber program. You've made winning important in your team culture, and your team culture is one worthy of celebration as its clearly...

I'm still waiting for the 1, 11, 111, 1111 championship alliance.

Re: Everyone's A Winner?

I said winning wasn't important. I didn't say the robot wasn't important. Your counter (the strawman) was that I should have my team not build a robot.

Re: Everyone's A Winner?

Building and competing are tremendously important. Nobody is pretending that this isn't about the robots. The experiences gained by designing, fabricating, modelling, iterating, programming, and...

Re: Everyone's A Winner?

Winning a competition with your robot is not important.
Being a Chairman's team is.

Re: Everyone's A Winner?

FIRST used to give out bronze medals to every team who competed. These were replaced with pins provided in the KoP several years ago, presumably as a cost cutting measure.

Re: Streamline Awards Ceremonies?

At the latest, you have a 6 minute field timeout between SF-4 and F-1. Use those 6 minute breaks (as well as any earlier 6 minute timeouts called by teams or necessitated by back-to-back matches) to...

Re: Capabilities Needed to be Picked at Champs

More than anything else, captains are going to want teams that get to the batter at the end of every match. This means avoiding teams that break down, get stuck on defenses, suffer frequent radio or...

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

Should the teams be the focus? Or should achieving culture change be the focus?

Granted, those two are typically going to go hand in hand. But if underlying circumstances create an environment in...

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

He claimed a lack of ignorance why other events couldn't give 9+ (more than 8) plays for 60 teams (over a full event) when another event did 12 plays for 40 teams in one day.

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

If you really want to increase the number of matches teams play, the solution isn't districts or cycle times or longer hours. The solution it to put more teams on the field at once.

In the 2v2...

Re: Championship Waitlist

First off, the cost of 2 district events and a district championship is $9000 in registration fees.

Secondly, where are you getting that 65 team number? 65 teams would be a very large regional...

Re: Arranging for travel without confirmed eligibility

Do not forget to make plans on how to transport your tools and equipment down to Championship. I would reach out to Dave Morris and Team 2016 to inquire if they are once again helping MAR teams...

Re: Inspector Hats

FYI, MORT is pretty easy to distinguish from the head referees. I never even made that connection until this thread. The MORT logo on the front breast and giant text on the back of MORT's shirts make...

Re: Championship Waitlist

218 out of 600 is much closer to 1/3 of spots than 1/2 of spots.

The quantity of teams each district sends to the Championship is based on their proportion of the total teams in FRC. A more...

Re: Inspector Hats

FYI, there was an incident in 2007 where a team intentionally chose uniforms almost identical to referees. They were forced to changed uniforms at their event.

Obviously not the same circumstances...

Re: Westtown MAR District Won on Eliminations Tiebreaker Rules

The 31st, 32nd, and 36th ranked (out of 37) teams were also selected. The 31st ranked team was even a first round selection (6th) and reached the finals.

There are plenty of people who don't visit CD regularly enough to understand the personas that people adopt, and who wouldn't get your sarcasm. I know I'm being a wet blanket, but do think of how the...

Re: Interesting/Cool Scaling Mechanism Designs

To be fair, I wouldn't make the assumption that a device added specifically for an off-season event that doesn't have an inspection process is legal.

Re: Westtown MAR District Won on Eliminations Tiebreaker Rules
