Re: Five Person Drive team in 2017

That's because teams got a new set of buttons at each event*. Another way to read too much into this blog post would be to interpret the "every team will be getting a set like this" portion as teams...

Re: [FRC Blog] FIRST Championship District Allocations

I really don't think this is coincidental with the upcoming move to Detroit. The team density in Southeast Michigan is ridiculous compared to, well, everywhere else.

Re: New AndyMark Product Game Hint???

I noticed that as well, but I'm assuming the AndyMark team found it was easy enough to use.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!

One of them is old - 190
All of the teams went to the Championship last year- 190
There are some district teams- 190
At least one of them has won a World Championship- 190
There are some non-district...

Re: Alternative to foul points: extra time?

That reminds me, technically Logomtion had a variable length of match. After all 4 towers were activated, the match would end, regardless of how much time was left on the clock.

Re: Alternative to foul points: extra time?

For most games, setting foul points is easy. You make the penalty for the foul higher than the points that can possibly be gained for committing the foul. You make it so there's no way to exploit the...

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!

It's a trick. All six teams are 190.

Re: [FRC Blog] FIRST Championship Housing Registration

It has been an "even trade" so far (3 STL teams heading to Houston and vice-versa), so perhaps the HoF teams have to find willing partners to swap with? Can any HoF teams clarify?

Re: [FRC Blog] FIRST Championship Housing Registration

I think Mike's concern is that it would now require HoF teams to switch registrations to attend the other Championship. We already see 120, 175 and 365 in Houston, but the remainder of the St....

Re: Yet another new mentor question - how much to order preseason?

It all depends on your resources. If you're on a tight budget, order what you'll know you need ahead of time, and then make other orders as soon as you need a part. Determine what resources you have...

Re: Versatile gearboxes for pre-season stocking up?

Follow the literature provided by Vex (namely the User Guide and Load Ratings Guide) and the VersaPlanetary will meet most of your manipulator gearing needs.

Re: [FRC Blog] FIRST Choice 2017

The flags were used from 2006-2008. Having trailers in 2009 made it so the colors of the bumpers on the trailers could be used to identify alliances. They carried that forwards to robot bumpers...

Re: [FRC Blog] FIRST Choice Round 1: Slight Delay & a Tweak

We made out with all our top choices. Talon SRX, Power Distribution Board, Voltage Regulator Module, NavX Micro, and NVidia Jetson TX1. Pretty pleased with our haul.

Aside of glorious clicking sounds that will drive everyone else in the room to the edge of their wits, I don't really see the need for mechanical keyboards in CAD or programming. That being said, I'd...

Re: [FRC Blog] FIRST Choice Round 1: Slight Delay & a Tweak

Now I wish I had watched that episode. I would have gone in and spent more than $20 worth of my manhours to get $20 off shipping by adding every item I could.

Re: West Coast Products SS

Just checked our 2016 machine tonight, and it does use a #35 12t double sprocket. The clearance is a bit tight between the chain, but it's nothing to be worried about if you plan ahead.

They also...

Be aware that the grants for 2016 season went out a long time ago. DoDSTEM is usually far ahead of most other organizations in their grant timelines.

Re: STEAM Actually comming to FRC, and im not happy

The dilution of STEM funding into a broader spectrum is indeed a concern I have. While hopefully the initiatives funded have at least a tertiary connection to the "Technology" portion of STEM (such...

Re: STEAM Actually comming to FRC, and im not happy

Can you provide me any links towards art grants that are now accepting STEM applicants? The vast majority of this movement is happening in the other direction, including the Arts in STEM funding. The...
