Re: 2017 Game Animation PT.3

The OP has so many red dots because I have a terrifying amount of rep power.

I understood these are fake, but I also realize there are a lot of younger and less experienced members of these forums...

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

This leads us right back to the conversation that was occurring regarding burnout and what it means to "keep up." Nobody doubts that having more time means teams will have the capability of doing...

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

For the vast majority of FRC participants, being the best of the best at a worldwide scale is not in their vocabulary. Using the rationale of the very top echelon in terms of on-field success is not...

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

Even if we suppose that there is currently a correlation between OPR and team retention (which I have some dispute with, at least until more data is released...

Re: Poll: What do you use to control your bot?!?!

Why would anyone WANT to use a Gamecube or N64 controller? Those are two of the worst designed controllers in the history of gaming.

Re: paper: Stop the Stop Build

Great working gathering and presenting this data. It was really an eye opening read in many ways.

However, I am given pause by some of the leaps taken when discussing the presented statistics in...

Re: FRC Blog: Stop Build Day Survey Clarification and Return of an Award

Glad the real animation award is making its return. The safety animations have never been up to the same standard.

Re: Poll: What do you use to control your bot?!?!

Do you do anything to secure the USB cable? Or do accept the risk of the USB becoming unplugged? Or do you have a bluetooth solution, with the USB or other tether there simply to satisfy the rules?

Re: [FIRST EMAIL] Stop Build Day Survey

I agree that the questions were confusing and difficult to parse. I hope this is only the first step in their (public) research process on this issue.

As this thread is starting to (d)evolve into...

Re: [FRC Blog] 2017 FIRST Championships Allocations for Districts

Houston Champs districts get a pretty huge spike in slots! Roughly 40% (give or take) increases for each of PNW, North Carolina, and Peachtree.

Re: pic: MAR Team Distribution (2016)

This also brings to light another point. Does anyone know the precise border of MAR in Pennsylvania? So far it's largely been a non-issue, since the vast majority of teams in PA are clustered in the...

Re: Video Review Needs to Happen Now

The argument regarding additional time is not centered around the time to conduct the video review (hopefully there is a definite time cap on that), but rather the fact that blown calls lead to...

Re: Why use a manifold?

Fewer connections means fewer chances of leaks in your pneumatic system. This is especially important on any portions of your pressure system connected to your storage. Plumbing your system in series...

Re: [FRC Blog] District Teams attending Regionals

When discussing while traveling teams may find significant success outside of their region, I don't think "novelty" should be ignored. I don't mean novelty in that they are simply from a different...

Re: [FRC Blog] District Teams attending Regionals

Should be called "the MAR rule." While other districts have certainly had teams win cultural awards outside their district (IIRC, 27 won outside the year they won CCA), it's a fairly common occurance...

Re: How are teams mounting drivetrain encoders on WCD?

I don't have any pictures unfortunately, but a couple of 1712s students designed a novel mount for the Versa block system. They 3D printed a piece that interfaced with the contour of the Versa block...

Re: Districts vs. Traditional Debate 8/16 830pm EST

Well, for one, there are some DCMPs in week 7. ;)

Yes, there are some regional teams who deal with a similar turnaround. But that's a smaller portion than the vast majority of district teams who do...

Re: Districts vs. Traditional Debate 8/16 830pm EST

As someone who competed in MAR that season, "3 of the 4 best known teams" would be a more accurate description of that alliance. Despite the names involved, that was not some unstoppable powerhouse...
