Re: Best FRC moments ever

Watching Big Mike try his hardest with the pokey stick to keep the balls moving as 71 and 1625 fill the goal is pretty hilarious. The lessons learned from 2006 were definitely incorporated into some...

Re: Ontario Moving to District Model in 2017

That really depends on how many open spots are left. For most districts, they pick the lowest number of events required to support two plays for their district teams. That leaves few spots for third...

Re: Best FRC moments ever

Not sure how I forgot this one in my previous post. The 137-133 match at IRI in 2006. In my opinion, the greatest match of FRC ever played.

Re: Ontario Moving to District Model in 2017

That depends entirely on the district. There's very little standardization from FIRST with regards to managing the DCMPs. FiM champs does have team-run seminars. New England champs has a very high...

Re: Lets do it again...

2014 pretty easily. Ironically, that was the year we reached the finals at one of our events.

Re: FRC to be at the 2020 Olympics?

Being "at the Olympics" doesn't mean it's an actual event at the Olympics. I suspect it's far more likely that an FRC demonstration or exhibition occurs somewhere on the Olympic campus during the...

Re: FRC 2016 TrueSkill Ratings

I'd be interested to see this numbers plotted against other metrics of team performance (OPR, district points, win%, etc).

Re: Districts in Texas proposal sent to FIRST

This is not a universally true statement. Many events have rather limited practice available on load-in night, and are primarily concerned with making sure teams connect to the field. There's no...

Re: [FRC Blog] The Woodie Flowers Award and Two FRC Championships

You should time travel back to 1998 and prevent FIRST from awarding multiple winners in subsequent seasons.

Re: What can FIRST do to increase FRC team sustainability?

I understand your general rhetoric, but I'm still having trouble seeing how anything changes in reality. Are you saying you think FIRST HQ needs to attempt to recruit sponsors to help various...

What type of products would you be unboxing and reviewing? Electronics? Tools? COTS components?

I'm a little confused as to the value here. For something like computer components, I get a lot of...

Einstein Semi-finals 1, Match 2

So, the 3rd match played during the semifinals on Einstein.

Re: pic: FIRST FRC Participation

The FIRST Vex Challenge actually had a pilot event in 2005, at the FRC Championship. The timing had more to do with the Vex kits becoming a full fledged product line in 2005/2006 (carried in Radio...

Re: pic: FIRST FRC Participation

Thanks, Karthik.

A number of 2005 events are missing match results on TBA. That's the culprit.

The first season of the district format in Michigan was 2009.

Can anyone provide insight as to what happened in 2004/05? Did some grant project fund rookies then stop support?

Re: Limiting female drive team members issue

All of our overnight field trips require a school nurse present. We made sure the school sent a female nurse to solve any issues we had with finding a female chaperone.

Re: What can FIRST do to increase FRC team sustainability?

I'm not sure I follow you here. Are you saying that teams shouldn't have to reach out to sponsors and school boards to sell them on the merit of FIRST?
