Re: 2012 Boston Regional
This was my second trip the the Boston regional, the first being in 2006. It was great, and not just because we did well in the competition. Boston is a great city with its history, cool...

Re: Lessons learned from 2006 and 2001
With the 2001 game, you wanted to balance the bridge with two goals on it, but no robots. Team 71 pushed the goals onto the bridge using arms extended out, mechanically leveled the bridge, spread...

Re: Lessons learned from 2006 and 2001
Plaidwarrier, Do you remember the width of the flat part of the 2001 beam that the bridge balanced on? I'm wondering if this year's will be easier, or harder, but I don't remember how the '01 bridge...

Re: 2011 IRI
Only at IRI....
We had consistently decent alliance pairing, we played well, we didn't break, and we ended up 3-6 in the Q matches. There is no FIRST-related event anywhere that has close to the...

Re: What kind of car do you drive??
Do you burn fryer oil in it? A former team member had a similar car, and he used fryer oil from his parents' restaurant. It would coagulate, though, in unusually cold weather here in Florida, and...

Re: 2011 Curie Division
Congrats to 987, 51, and 968 on making it to Einstein.
Phil Lundberg, are you out there? It was good seeing you at St. Louis. Please PM me your e-mail and/or phone #.

Re: 2011 DC Regional...
On a related note, does anyone know why the NASA robotics site is dead? I've been trying to check webcasts, but the whole nasa.robotics.gov site is inoperative.

Re: 2011 DC Regional...
Sounds great. We'll probably want to enter the "race." Will you have both "stock" and "modified" classes where you can use a 20 volt battery?

Re: What kind of car do you drive??
My cars have changed since I last posted here.
I now have two cars that are quite different from each other, both of which get good gas mileage.

Re: RS550 Enough Power?
We tried using one with a Fisher-Price for our arm rotation in 2007, and destroyed it instantly. In retrospect, we should have known better, given all the power of the F/P and moment of inertia of...

Re: RS550 Enough Power?
Be very careful in how you use a 256:1 Banebots. They are very easy to destroy. Even with a 550 motor, you get LOTS OF TORQUE at the output, not to mention what you get with a 775 or Fisher Price...

Re: 2007 in relation to 2011
It will be interesting to see how things play out over the season. While we will be scoring "tubes" like in '07, I see some major differences.
For one, the drivers will have to be very good at...

Re: 2010 IRI Results and Awards
It seemed that way to me too. I know you sat out one of your finals matches, and 1086 sat out a match in one of their semis. ...and yeh, Team 51 played three times in their hard-fought semi.

Re: 2010 IRI Results and Awards
With all the ties in the elimination rounds, it was a good thing for teams that had to "hit the road," that there was no awards ceremony after the matches on Saturday.
I've always thought that the...

Most of the extra tax it to pay for the new arena where the Colts play. My sister who lives in Indy, but is not a big Colts fan, was rather annoyed, especially since there is also a "Colts Arena...

Re: 2010 FLORIDA REGIONAL
We were "dead in the water" our last two matches Saturday because of a damaged power wire to the radio. That is the main reason we weren't picked, along with our having problems with "ball off the...

This was not one of our better years, competition-wise, and may have been the first time in the team's history that we were not in the elimination rounds. Still, we had a great time in Atlanta. The...

Re: Newton 09
There probably aren't as many "super star" teams in Newton as, say, Galileo, but we have a good strong field. We have a lot of those always-strong "100s" teams from the northeast.
Pink is still...
