Re: quick question

The 3.6 ratio is for no load and might not be the 'perfect' ratio to use under load conditions, but it should be close. Last year we used drill and FP motors connected 1 to 1, not be the 'ideal'...

Smile Re: WHAT??? CHANGE KIDNAPPING RULE!?!??!? NOOOOOO!

If you use all 12 motors for the drive train you don't have any left to lift the goals so you get good traction. We are only using 10 motors for our drive train.

Wink Classified information

Our estimated top speed is classified, but the information will probably be declassified at our first regional in Cleveland.

We can safely say that our top speed will be under 40 mph.

The $75 is a bargain

If a team is not staying at the Disney hotels and not buying park passes, the $75 per person is a bargain. How much does it cost to build the stadiums, pit tents, etc? How much does it cost to run...

See: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FRCtech2002/

The above site gives details and clarifications. Basically, I think the bumpers are included in the weight limit but can stick out 4 inches in each direction beyond the 'basic robot.'

The no-load output of the drill motor and gear box in high gear is about 1000 rpm. The no-load output of the supplied cluster gear with the Chiaphua motor is about 1100 rpm. Probably the easiest...

I think the purpose of the double deck goals was to have goals with a clearly defined, and hard to damage "interaction zone" with the robots. The goals are heavy which will affect to some degree the...

Check your cables

A few days ago we had a communications problem with our '01 robot which turned out to be the cable between the radio and the receive box on the robot. Such problems are rare, but they sometimes...

Gear them to match speed--run in the correct direction

The drill motors are about 20,000 rpm no load and the FP's are about 15,000. Ideally, these motors should probably be geared to have their rpm in that proportion. They are close enough, though,...

Use the cluster in the kit, or make one

The 36 PD, 25 deg gear is very non-standard, so your main choices are probably to use the gear cluster that came in the kit, or make your own wire EDM gears.

The small gear on the cluster is...

The 30 amp breakers will take considerably more than 30 amps for short periods of time, but will heat up and trip much more quickly than the 60 amp breaker if run at, say, 2x its rating. Of course,...

Last year--drill and F/P together

Last year we connected the drill and Fisher-Price motors end to end, ran the output of both through the drill gearbox, and drove our track drive from the output of the gearbox. While the no load rpm...

Stability control?

We used the gyro last year for autobalancing on the bridge, but there doesn't seem to be such an obvious application this year.

Maybe it could used damp yaw motions and make a 'squirrly handling'...
