Re: Championship 2007 - Atlanta - What Needs To Be Improved

I'm probably in the minority on this, but why is the P.A. so loud? Anyone who cares about preserving their hearing needs to use ear plugs, but if the sound weren't so loud, we wouldn't need ear...

Re: Championship 2007 - Atlanta - What Needs To Be Improved

Maybe this shouldn't be necessary, but the way to make sure everyone stays for the Chairman's Award presentation is to have the presentation before the second, and potentially last match.

Re: Banebots 42mm gearbox: Recommendations for use

It's interesting to hear that some of you have had much better success with the 256:1 F/P combo than we did. We were using about a 4:1 reduction from the BaneBots to our arm, but with very little...

Re: Team 233 (The Pink Team) Roccobot 2k7 Videos Unveiled!

Here is the scoop, and it's kind of embarrassing for a veteran team like ours. We did, in fact, violate <R21>. Work was done in our shop, which is not available to other teams. I hadn't read these...

Re: Banebots 42mm gearbox: Recommendations for use

Our initial problem with the 256:1 BB was with the double D. We then made an output shaft out of one piece of steel and pressed in the original pins. The pins broke. I think we also lost a gear...

Yep, Florida Teams 59, 79, 108, 233, and 1902 will be there. It will be fun.

Re: Florida Regional 2007

I know why one of the robots, 233, wasn't there. We had major structural issues with our tower which were awaiting repairs. We, like all teams in this situation, feel badly about letting our...

Re: Florida Regional 2007

To say that we were thrilled to be picked by S.P.A.M. is an understatement. Considering what we had demonstrated in the qualifying matches, we felt lucky to be picked at all, and then to get picked...

Re: 2007 Red Advantage

There was a huge advantage for red in some of the later matches at the Florida Regional, because teams on the blue side repeatedly lost communication because of field problems. I guess there were a...

Re: Florida Regional 2007

We are changing the tires on our center wheels which should give us more traction. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I think we are up against Team 744 two more times.

Re: **FIRST EMAIL**/Safety At the Events, NEW Eye and Face Protection Policy and Stud

To me, the rules regarding safety glasses make complete sense, except for the rather vague part about "tinted" and "shaded". You can lose an eye for life it an object goes the wrong place.

As far...

Re: 2007 St. Louis Regional

It's good to see my old team, TechnoKats, get off to a good start this year. Congrats also to 829, and 1444. See you in Atlanta.

Re: pic: The TechnoKats 2007 Robot(s)

Your machines look good. I wish we could get two built so we could get better practice after ship.

We didn't try the kit wheels, but were tempted. That rubber feels really sticky and should work...

The inner section is 1/8 wall thickness aluminum tube that's 1 inch square on the outside. The outer section is 1/8 inch wall, 2 1/2 square Al tube (with lots of lightening holes).

Re: Banebots 42mm gearbox: Recommendations for use

This thread has provided a lot of good information, with all kinds of technical tidbits. I'll try to make my comments brief regarding our experience.

We bought two 256:1 to use with F/P motors for...

Re: What kind of car do you drive??

Miatas and RX7's run in different classes. Both do well in their respective classes. The last generation of RX7's ran against late model Corvettes in the mid-90's, and often beat them. The Miatas...

Re: 2007 Kit

Unless guidelines have changed, which is unlikely, the battery can be placed on its side or edge in the robot, but should be charged in the upright position.

Re: #25 Chain Information

We have used #25 chain for years for our 6WD drive train with good reliability. The chain itself is very strong, like 700+ pound breaking strength, and is, of course, much lighter than #35 chain....

Re: Championship Hotel Reservations - How Did it Go For you?

The story I heard about Omni is that all FIRST teams were banned from staying there by hotel management because we didn't comply with their rules well enough. Can anyone confirm this as correct (or...
