Re: pic: 2006 Mission Mayhem Trophies

I'm not going to speak on behalf of the actual trophies themselves. But as for Andrew, each year he basically takes something random/abstract and makes a theme of sorts around it for the trophies,...

Re: pic: 2006 Mission Mayhem Trophies

Wow, once again you've managed to make some of the coolest and most unique trophies. You should try to put up a picture of the "history" of the trophies you've done for Robot Rodeo/Mayhem at the...

Re: DeWalt: 36 Volt Tools!!

Pfft, wires are so yesterday. I think we need to pull apart my 6hp lawnmower... then we'd have no problem doing precision work!

Too many photos with CD-Media?

I've noticed in a few conversations with friends and teammates that the behavior of members with photo uploads has changed quite a bit since the new CD-Media system was implemented. Personally, I'd...

Re: Famous Last Words

"Don't worry about putting it on blocks, I only changed a minor line in the code."

RJ at the 2004 design meeting on ComBBAT: "I've got an idea, let's have large flaps open to catch all the balls."

Re: DeWalt: 36 Volt Tools!!

Forget electric-car research, the way DeWalt is going they will be able to make their own all-electric cars soon. Lol. I think these tools could be very useful. However, I'd imagine it's main market...

Re: [Official 2007 Game Design] Autonomy And Other Technology Discussions

Now, this requires some explanation... but it's purely a concept-based idea. I personally have been hoping for a manipulator-important multiplier/bonus for awhile. Some teams designed very...

Re: thoughts on myspace

I agree that passing the blame onto Myspace is wrong. I mean, the site started out to help bands get promoted... not for what it turned into. Myspace became this "networking" site because of the...

Re: A Challenge

Here's an idea to try (I don't have 3ds max installed on this machine nor the time lol, but maybe it'll give you something to work with):

Make a spline that is just very jagged and very thin and...

Re: Gryo, Camera, Accelorometer, Ultrasonic, and Gear Tooth Sensors in one program

I'd suggest going with the 2nd-gen EDU bot. That runs the same way as the main controller I believe. The VEX, like everyone else has said, will just be a hassle. However, the EDU bot will handle it...

Re: I Should be happy today.. But read.

One thing that I've learned, and definitly have had very much reiterated as a college mentor is that you simply can't do stuff like that. The intention is totally honorable, but the thing is... there...

Re: pic: donut'sgame2

I really like that setup. Easy to tell who's in the lead, and has multiple targets to make strategy interesting. One thing to keep in mind, though I haven't seen a write-up yet... make sure you have...

Re: What NEW Vex Accessories Would You Like TO See?

I'd like to see a nice accelerometer sensor system as well as a gyro. I think that a large group are interested in developing more self-balancing systems and better software-assisted arm movements...

Re: Questions by Artist on VEX Programing

I am personally not aware of a randomization function integrated directly into EasyC. However, a simple "random" system you could make could be a simple if loop where everytime the controller loops...

Re: Florida offseason event, Mission Mayhem

Like Abe said, the former Orlando offseasons only brought in central florida teams anyhow. Since Mr. Burke and Arefin to all of the planning and venue-finding for the mayhem event, it ends up being...

Re: IFI Control System (OI/RC) - The Future???

Although everything in this thread has been speculative and people have brought up good points, I definitly agree that there could be a million different reasons why IFI would not be selling more for...

Re: missing prom for nationals (was: *?*!*)

I missed my Senior Prom for Atlanta last year. However, on Saturday night I was with my friends on SPAM and we had a dance-off in the halls at one point making a "remote Astronaut High prom." Between...

Re: The Rise and Fall of FIST Teams through time.

I know that some teams found that FIRST didn't suit them as well over time based on the student population passing through. I know of at least one team which focused it's resources into Battlebots IQ...

As a graduated member of ComBBAT 21... I found myself in Houston this week serving as a mentor to team 1902 while my father went with ComBBAT to South Carolina. I came home from a lovely day today...

Re: Who's the happiest team?

Ramtech 59. It was great having them back at the Florida Regional again this year, I could hear them all day back in the pits dancing and cheering.

Re: pic: 1902mikeoink.jpg

To think... at the beginning of this season I said to myself "Man, I'm gonna be so confused when I go to competition and can't say 'Who Dat BBAT?' every match.... what ever am I going to do?" I guess...
