Re: CHS Platter - The Real CHSy Champs

Yes, I am comparing the great job at DCMP to other efforts.

I don't have very many face-to-face interactions with volunteers either; the only major interaction I have is with the closest RI with a...

Re: CHS Platter - The Real CHSy Champs

I'd the separate feedback the reason I haven't gotten an email for this specific event to complete feedback, or are we just getting that later?

Re: CHS Platter - The Real CHSy Champs

We're going to echo the shout out to Steve Shade. Our drive coach said he was just as good as, if not better than Aidan Browne. That's high praise. Please, everyone, go fill out feedback and let...

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

As a team who earned their first robot-merit spot in 14 years yesterday, I am acutely aware of this fact.

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

This is very true and can be evidenced by certain states. Ones that have taken advantage of the FTC competition structure to improve team quality have seen improvements in merit qualifications to...

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

Our pit crew really enjoyed just having to check chains and do simple systems checks during short turnaround times at a district event and they really enjoyed their two industrial design awards, but...

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

As a coach, I felt like we went to certain events that gave us mediocre match schedules and supplemented it with a mediocre experience because that is how the chronological and geographical cookie...

Re: pic: Districts in Minnesota Flyer

The small single state district format is also in GA. I assume it is working there as well. I will attest to the primary reason that the single state district systems work is because they have a very...

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

In all seriousness and despite my bias from being someone who put forth the idea that I had never heard of before, Minnesota could lead the charge to run a regional/dcmp hybrid schedule. It's sort of...

I feel like the people of Minnesota are very in tune to the other side.

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

Would you consider having some sort of "inverse kickoff" where teams can bring their robots to be unbagged and inspected and adjusted at a large public location? It would be a great opportunity to...

Re: pic: Districts in Minnesota Flyer

The readout from FIRST that I can see shows 258 registered teams in the state of California. Mark McLeod, the spreadsheet whisperer, might have a more accurate number.

Standard district event size...

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

That already happens in other areas and can be largely unavoidable unless you utilize advantages of the district system like run two local Saturday/Sunday events.

Questions like this have already...

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

If they happen to pass inspection before the end of Thursday in this scenario, they are already getting more out of the events than they are now.

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

I wonder if the following solution would be one the Minnesota RPC, Minnesota teams, and HQ could find tenable:

Make all regional events with a roster near or over 60 teams function like a district...

Re: Experience promoting districts in Minnesota

The mentors and alumni in Minnesota want the best for the teams in the state. They wouldn't volunteer so much if they didn't. This thread has some serious potential to get out of hand. Please let's...

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

Listen man, I'm just trying to help avoid the decimation of FRC in MN that would occur if they switch to a district system.

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

Minnesota could pioneer the idea of suspending a field 20 feet above the other field and have true double decker events.

Re: Are 8 play regional reasonable?

Yeah, no disrespect to the people of FIRST California, but I wonder if they could point out the differences between the Orange County Regional and literally almost any random district event. There is...

Re: CHS Platter - The Real CHSy Champs

Good to look at PNW, especially. I'd say that anyone in the top 30 right now who is a captain or first pick is probably in, as that's at least a 70 point boost.
