Re: California District Proposal

You're right Jon! Why don't we keep the posts productive? I promise from here on out, I will remain on topic and/or just remove myself from this thread entirely. I have the luxury of getting off work...

Re: California District Proposal

It was a reference to the alleged issues some other parts of the country are having with engaging young alumni in their communities and not primarily a direct attempt to be passive-aggressive,...

Re: California District Proposal

A lot of the problems Eric has with southern California have already been looked into by someone who is already posting here, as she is a contact for half a dozen potential venues in southern...

Re: California District Proposal

Speak for yourself. If I have to see 1086 or 2363 at another event I'll probably burn my eyebrows.

Re: California District Proposal

As far as I am aware, the reason you have and will likely continue to see higher quality production at the NE, PNW, and Chesapeake championships are because it is something that the powers that be...

Re: Ontario Moving to District Model in 2017

No one ever said 5699 was a struggling program in this thread. In the regional model with the TDSB sponsorship never adjusting, you may have been able to operate without any private funds, but...

Re: California District Proposal

Sponsors can walk into a lot of people at District Championship events, see them shouting and screaming, get impressed, and write checks. They can also go to at least twice as many events as...

Re: California District Proposal

Maintaining a livelihood would be considered an insurmountable life priority. A lot of us are very stupid unfortunately and ignore that one more than we should.

Re: California District Proposal

If someone was exclusively volunteering at FIRST events and not double dipping into their life force to mentor and volunteer, going to multiple events should not always be considered a huge barrier....

Re: Ontario Moving to District Model in 2017

This is great! This is not a unique occurrence however. Rookie grant programs are designed to infuse cash immeadiately into potential new programs for a short period of time. A really easy place to...

Re: California District Proposal

This is at least a three headed issue in most areas, but it can be easy to cut off these two (and they won't grow back, I promise)

Shifting from WTRS to FSS events frees up more people to volunteer....

Re: California District Proposal

This is the worst kept secret in the FIRST community.

I think it's something like 47% of the 2016 FRC population will be operating under the district system in 2017. Were California to also be in...

Re: 6 wheel drop center drive train

It was also when teams were running 4 inch or smaller high friction wheels. The 1/8 drop has been further standardized by the advent of the versablock, which when applied in a certain way in wcd...

Is the Championship Event supposed...

Re: Ontario Moving to District Model in 2017

Mandatory second play? If a coach doesn't want to go to a second event, are the board members of FIRST Canada going to put a horse head in their bed? I didn't see that in the letter at all.

Not a lot of teams out in that part of the...

Re: # of Divisions at Championships

I think the discussion of 4@100 vs 8@50 is directly related to the quality of experience teams can have at either of the postseason expositions. Pros and cons of each of these layouts and the ones in...
