Re: 2016 IRI Invitations -
Teams were not required to submit videos so there are likely fewer than 135 application videos.
Congrats to all the teams, especially the 3 from VA! Pretty bummed to not see some teams there, but...

Re: Wisconsin District Rankings
Depending on the makeup of your communities in the district system, you likely have a vast supply of venues to choose from. This helps the district system have more leverage at the table than the in...

Re: pic: Houston Venue for Championship 2017
I find the idea of shifting from the Championship event with 4 fields at 100 teams in 2014 to 16 fields between the 2 postseason expos at 50 in 2017 intriguing. Coupling that with the knowledge we...

Re: Your favorite robot of all time?
Death cycle: a repeated feeling of one's will to live shrinking as one hears someone talk about the hypothetical tactical play they never would have actually pulled off in 2014

Re: Award Recognition for Non-STEM Mentors in FRC
I wrote the WFA essays for two years and have written the DLA essays for 4 years while also making myself available to advise the students on WFA if they wish if/when they nominate someone. The...

Re: Championships in 2017
While your post is incredibly edgy, the shift from one championship to two postseason expos is at best an unknown quantity. The idea of increasing inspiration is entirely subjective, but you can...

Re: WILL.I.AM's comment on Einstein
You can't prove that will.I.am isn't an anti-Semite.
You also can't prove that you're not the zodiac killer and/or Ted Cruz. Bake him away, toys!

Re: FRC rules around seating need to change.
I saw some team mom go full starfish, laying out over rows of seats, while she start speaking in tongues trying to save seats at championships.
I will believe almost anything.

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative
For what it's worth, I think Andrew has been in a blue shirt at more events than I have been to events in any capacity. Opinions on award criteria availability can be discussed in this thread (and...

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative
Those judges really missed out on the stunning, inspiring, and borderline intimidating amount of passion and knowledge your students have for the machines your team builds. It really blew me away,...

Re: FRC rules around seating need to change.
:/ Maybe I'm just crazy but I don't see how it is that crazy to show up an hour early to get the seats you want. Maybe you do something like 10 blocks of 20 seats that can be lotto'd off as long as...

Re: pic: Input Stage Wear
I'm going to assume that you never tested it in an environment like Stronghold, with a lot of repeated impacts and sudden changes in the z-axis.
We had a couple WCP SS gearboxes from an old project...

Re: FRC rules around seating need to change.
Not all teams scout, unfortunately.
Some teams want room for 8 people, some only need/can spare 2 or 3.
There should be some neutral way to handle negative behavior at all aspects of a competition....

Re: Lesson Learned 2016 - The Negative
I get really fired up over a lot of minutiae, but this one is really important in how so many people of age choose to display their abysmal human-to-human behavior qualities. Over the last eight...

Re: Hardest personal lesson learned?
If you spend too much time focusing on not getting what you want, you risk ignoring the times when you got what you needed.
We haven't achieved the victories we want as a program and I want as an...
