Re: pic: Quick-Change Chassis 2
I don't think that's accurate. I'd say if we actually hooked up everyone's robots to a dyno and tested their actual drivetrain efficiency, there would not be many with greater than 90% efficiency....

Re: Variable Speed Gearboxes?
On that note, CVTech is another company that makes belt CVTs that are popular with Baja SAE. But CVTech's are even bulkier than Gage's, and I think the design on Gage's would be better suited for...

Re: Variable Speed Gearboxes?
I actually spent about a month of my life obsessing over this exact idea. And aside from the CAD practice I got from it, it was mostly a waste of time. You run into a whole host of issues as your...

Re: Robot in 3 Days 2017
As I reread my own post, I realize the "too proud" bit came off a little harsh. The reason I worded it as such and agree with that sentiment is because I have fallen victim to that mistake. You...

Re: Robot in 3 Days 2017
I'd love to see this just because I think it'd be a lot of fun as well. Also, the logistics would be difficult, but it'd be awesome to get 6 Ri3D bots at one event and let them duke it out.

Re: Robot in 3 Days 2017
One interesting thing to consider is that the Ri3D reveal videos may be the first FRC-style robots a rookie team ever sees, barring the animated robots in the game reveal. I think that's a bigger...

Re: CIM Like motors for non-FRC use
It honestly sounds like the CIM is what you're looking for. The issue you'll run into is that what makes the CIM so robust and so dependable is, in part, its weight. [WARNING: Over simplified...

Re: Making CAD Models Faster
Thankfully, you're already taking the first step which is planning and preparing. But I'll go through your points and add my advice.
Simple, easy to CAD, and easy to manufacture. It's easier said...

Re: New AndyMark Product Game Hint???
Are you referring to this wheel in the AndyMark teaser? That hex bore looks pretty small. Is that a wheel AndyMark just had laying around, or do you think that's an upcoming product?

Re: pic: High Reduction 2-Stage Gearbox
OP: How important is it to you that both plates are identical? I think you could cut out some weight by making the second plate shorter and removing the material you don't need. Also, how are you...

Re: pic: High Reduction 2-Stage Gearbox
Do you mind explaining or posting your Lewis Gear calcs? The formulas and calculations themselves are kinda configurable, and I've run into issues not including all the necessary factors. My opinion...

Re: New AndyMark product: L16-R actuator
I can't say anything about the legality, but I can vouch for the quality of these actuators. I used one of the same brand for a work project, and they work very well. We mounted it with a load cell...
