Go to Post Since our team is in possession of the school, we have no restrictions on how late we can be there. So our teams are often practicing into the wee hours of the morning. Also, the school board uses "the breeze" for storage of high jump mats, so it's a great place to nap. :) - Karthik [more]

Re: fast OPR computation with R using sparse matrix technology

Thanks for posting this Ether. Out of curiosity, have you quantified the time savings?

Re: paper: Augur: FRC Rankings Predictor

Why do we need a rankings predictor?

A rankings predictor helps teams to visualize what teams will be seeded in the top 8. This helps teams cater their strategies and decide what features to...

Re: Frank Answers Fridays: Expanded Championship Qualification

They are. For areas with many teams/events per area (high-density), districts make sense. There are some areas, though, where districts still don't make sense (to me, at least). New York, is one...

Re: How to find a new Build Space.

What is your team used to? What resources did you previous space afford your team? What are you looking for in a new space?

To corroborate Don's advice, there are a few teams in my area that...

Re: Frank Answers Fridays: Expanded Championship Qualification

I think once districts completely displace regional events, then that only makes sense -- especially with the promise of inter-district play.

I'm all for having the most competitive Championship...

Re: Announcing The Blue Alliance for Android

Prediction is tricky. It's easy to do a deterministic prediction (win/lose), but that's almost useless. How close is the win? How likely is it that that outcome will occur? What's far more...

For the record, view 469 in Finals Match 1 (http://youtu.be/gCfHNWajGq4), specifically at 34 seconds (http://youtu.be/gCfHNWajGq4?t=34s). And again at 1:19 (http://youtu.be/gCfHNWajGq4?t=1m19s).

Re: Announcing The Blue Alliance for Android

That's difficult. Many teams have different in-house prediction algorithms. I do know of a probabilistic ranking prediction algorithm, but it's not very lightweight -- I recall it taking a couple...

What happened happened, and the past is in the past.

However, for the sake of discussion, I'm interested in the reverse of the other side of the coin. The rules this year are defined such that the...

Re: [FRCGameSense] IRI Special with Nick Lawrence

My 2 cents: 254, 4039, or another robot that has an intake out the back or another way to attain the ball and score it in the high goal without moving from in front of the 1 point goal is...

Re: 2014 IRI - PRELIMINARY MATCH SCHEDULE

Typically it'll get up there later. As far as I know, Blue Alliance only grabs Twitter updates for live scores. If IRI has a full FMS setup with a Twitter feed, it should update regularly.

EDIT:...

Re: Adding a custom library to Robot Code? (Java)

If you can, I'd recommend using GitHub -- not only does it solve the releasing part (as you'd be open-sourcing it), but if you use Git during the year, you learn valuable skills widely used in...

Re: 2014 IRI Predictions

I think that 33 and 2056 are too close in design to effectively fill separate niches on an alliance. My 2 cents.
