Re: Drive Practice

What does pit practice entail? Is it just when you have to fix an issue, you handle it like you would at a competition?

Re: Two USB Cameras

I don't have access to the webdashboard at the moment, and won't for a few days, but on USB it shows the LifeCam labeled cam0, the second camera labeled cam1, and again the second camera labeled...

Re: Two USB Cameras

The other camera does show up, but it is listed as two devices on the webdashboard, which could be the problem. We may just wait until we can get another LifeCam.

Re: Drive Practice

How many hours of practice do you usually shoot for? The actual amount depends on a lot of things, of course, but what's the goal?

Two USB Cameras

We're trying to connect 2 USB cameras to the roborio, and would like to process the images from one, and stream the other to the driver station. We have the streaming working with mjpg-streamer....

Drive Practice

We're looking to make some significant improvements this season over last - one of which is the amount of practice our drive team gets before competition. So, how do other teams handle this? Do you...

Re: Camera not relaying to Smartdashboard

If you try to send other data to the SmartDashboard, can you see it? If not, I would make sure you have the correct team number in the dashboard.

Also, as BenBernard said, make sure you have the...

Re: Drivetrain PID tuning

We're able to get pretty good straight driving using only the P term with the navX, so that may be worth trying. As for carpet, a local store gave us a 5x12 foot square of the official carpet...

Re: pynetworktables2js

Yep, I got that. I guess I was just confused about it connecting to the localhost by default.

Re: pynetworktables2js

Shoot, sorry, I misunderstood how pynetworktables works. As of now, I think I know how to do it, but I'll probably have more questions once I actually try to get it working on the robot.

pynetworktables2js

We're trying to use pynetworktables2js (https://github.com/robotpy/pynetworktables2js) to make a custom dashboard. The issue with this is that the NetworkTables on the robot are set to server mode,...

Re: Strange comms issues

I had the same issue on my laptop. In the team number field in the driver station, enter roboRIO-####-FRC.lan (where #### is your team number). That fixed it for me.

Re: Gyro vs. Encoders for Driving Straight

Thanks for the responses! Seems the general idea is that using encoders and gyro is best.

We did try to do camera vision (didn't end up finishing it though). That was just an example to say that we...

Gyro vs. Encoders for Driving Straight

At the moment, our algorithm for driving straight doesn't work too well. We just start at a set speed and increment the left and right speeds by a small amount based on encoder readings. We get about...

Thanks to team 1730 and all the fantastic volunteers for holding such a great event! 5968 had a great time (even though we didn't do as well as we'd wanted), and I certainly hope we'll be able to...

Re: Teams that have used a Raspberry Pi

5968 spent quite a while developing an image processing algorithm to run on a Raspberry Pi (only to abandon it). I did most of the serial communication between the pi and roboRIO, and somebody else...

Re: Most Unlikely Places You've Found FRC People

We had a booth at a maker faire today and met an organizer for an offseason event we're going to in October. The event is a bit over 2 hours away, so that was kind of a weird coincidence.

Last year (our team's rookie season), we had issues with testing code. The robot was not in a full working state until 10:30 pm on the day before stop build, so obviously us programmers didn't get...
